Overview
About Me
I am currently enjoying a one year sabbatical. I finished a Beijing-Holland overland trip. Now I am spending the last part of my budget on a 6 week India trip. Of course I had vaguely heard of couchsurfing before, and registered in 2017 to have a quick look at it, but in my day to day life never delved deeper into it. Only when I heard positive stories about Couchsurfing during my trip my interest renewed and I decided to try it. My first couchsurfing experience was in Tajikistan, I also did a few times in Iran. I met great people, had fun experiences and learned more about the countries I visited. Currently I am travelling through India, I hope to do some couchsurfing here as well. When I am finally back home and settled in a new home I hope to host surfers myself to meet more interesting persons.

Something more about myself:I have studied political science and philosophy, work in IT, love travelling and I am interested it Chinese language and culture/society. Other interests are sports (I used to play competitive tennis and my favourite sport to watch on TV is road cycling, I am not much of a football fan though), and punk music (The Ramones are one of my favourite bands, to name a classic one).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet interesting people and gain insights in the countries I visited. When the inevitable happens and my long trip comes to and end I hope to invite the world to my home.

Music, Movies, and Books
Punk rock! I do not watch much movies, but go with The Shawshank Redemption of I have to Choose one. My favourite book is 'Publieke Werken' a Dutch classic.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling all across China to Tajikistan after studying Chinese language in Shijiazhuang, and now continuing all the way back to the Netherlands without taking flights.
Teach, Learn, Share
I always love to learn a few words of the local language, it is not only practical when travelling but also helps to get more of a connection with the place you visit.
