Overview
About Me
I recently graduated college and am currently working with people with schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. I'm a musician, hiker, farmer, thinker, and love meeting new people.
I love learning about and discussing philosophy, music, psychology, religion, or anything new.
I love anything to do with the outdoors and nature. One of my goals in life is to live on a communal farm.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has been a wonderful way for me to meet and connect with people of different cultures and backgrounds, to learn and understand their experience of the world and share my own.
I'm currently going through transitions and hoping to explore more of the world, but once I do have a home of my own, I'm excited to host other explorers who need a place to lay their heads.
Interests
I play piano, upright bass, and guitar and have dabbled in a few other instruments. Creativity is how I connect with many people - through art, literature, music that we both create and experience.
My dream is to be part of a communal farm that's as sustainable and self-reliant as possible. I love vegetable gardening and am eager to learn other skills to equip me for something like that.
Out in a forest, on a hillside, in a meadow, these are the places that I feel alive and at rest, surrounded by the beauty and peace of nature. So I love hiking, backpacking, anything that lets me experience this.
I'm also very interested in psychology, philosophy, religion, linguistics, and humans!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Ben Howard, Noah Gundersen, Nickel Creek, Brand New, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Daughter, Bon Iver, Manchester Orchestra. Show me your favorite music!
Movies: Into the Wild, Peter and the Farm, The Prestige, Memento, Dear Zachary. These are movies that make me question my understanding of the world and shift my perspective.
Books: The Brothers K by David James Duncan, The Oath by Elie Wiesel, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, anything by Dostoevsky or Tolkien. Again, anything that makes me think.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Alaska to work in a salmon fishery, which meant being wet and cold and tired for 16 hours every day cutting fish. It's miserable in a way but also incredibly inspiring to meet these adventurous, hardworking people, and it's exhilarating to be pushing yourself to the limit every day both mentally and physically. I worked there for two summers and can't wait to go back!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can do my best to teach:
- how to play a little piano or guitar ♩ ♪ ♫
- how to make gira (a Lithuanian drink similar to kvass)
- English!
- a bit about psychology from studying it in university
I am eager to learn:
- Anything, really!
- how to cook your favorite meals
- interesting science facts
- stories about your family, your town, your nation, your culture
I hope to share interesting conversation, new experiences, and connection with people from different backgrounds and different perspectives. In the end I'm just looking to share a little of myself with someone else and to create friendship in a new place
What I Can Share with Hosts
With my hosts I love to share excellent conversation, to share music or poetry I've written or that is meaningful to me, to make food and share it together, and tell stories about the experiences I've had and the dreams I hope to see become reality
