About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the world via sustainable farms!

ABOUT ME

I've got a quirky sense of humor, I love farming, homesteading, and do-it-yourself projects. I'm easy to get along with and am generally an extrovert, though I also enjoy my quiet time, reading books, and listening to all sorts of music. I'm always in the mood for an adventure, a great conversation, and cooking delicious vegetarian food.

PHILOSOPHY

At this point, my philosophy is fluid. I've been sure about it at times in the past, but I'm trying to learn. I think that we're here connect with people and build meaningful relationships. Personally, I think I'm here as part of humanity to just help out and try and make life better for people and the planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At this point I am mainly just a couchsurfer. I am currently traveling across Europe on farms with my friend Maegan. We are trying to meet adventurous, fun-loving, and humorous people who are passionate about life! Ultimately, I hope to host people at my apartment in Washington, DC.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My family has hosted a number of couchsurfers before from across the world. My name experience couchsurfing has been through living on family farms and doing homestays.

Interests

I love farming (especially natural, permaculture, and sustainable ag), cooking tasty vegetarian food, listening to music (all sorts, though I especially enjoy folk), having deep or funny conversations, telling jokes, learning, especially learning how to make things myself, going on adventures, listening to live music, and getting to know people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a really big fan of folk music, especially those influenced by Bob Dylan. I like bands like the Fleet Foxes, Old Crow Medicine Show, and bluegrass in general. At the same time, I really dig all types of music, but I connect most when its clear that the artist is really into the music they are creating. Movies - I like a lot of classics and specific directors: Wes Anderson (Fantastic Mr. Fox) and Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs). I like books that make you think deeply. One of my current favorites is One Straw Revolution, but others include: Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and the Universe in a Single Atom by the Dalai Lama.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living on a goat farm/sustainable citrus orchard in the desert of Israel in a town with 10 families. Unbelievably beautiful location, wonderful people, fresh-sweet citrus, and relaxing and meaningful work.

Lived in Istanbul for 6 days. One of the most fun and exciting weeks of my entire life. Amazing/surreal sites during the day and awesome nightlife. Unbelievable week.

Lived in the desert with Bedouins in the south of Jordan in Wadi Rum. During the day, vast desert, riding camels, and relaxing with great tea. At night there were wonderful bonfires, hookah, a little drinking, and the stargazing was beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have extensive sustainable/permaculture agricultural knowledge. I've worked on many farms and teach kids about farming. I can share a wealth of knowledge on this subject and also practical knowledge about homesteading and do-it-yourself projects. I <3 fermentation!
