About Me
Hi, I'm Jesse! I'm a singer/songwriter from the SF Bay Area in California. I love writing songs and I love traveling and sharing them with people. Music has been important to me ever since I was a kid and now it's my way of life. It inspires me, carries me through tough times, and brings about new adventures. I love visiting old friends and meeting new and interesting people wherever I go. I'm pretty shy normally but singing is a big ice breaker so I'm very lucky I get to travel with music as a companion :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Gregory Alan Isakov, the Avett Brothers, Simond and Garfunkel, the Weepies, Father John Misty, Copeland, Cat Stevens, Elliot Smith and the list goes on. I also listen to a lot of indie singer/songwriters. I meet a lot of great indie artists as I hear about them in the music community or when I play shows with them.
I recently did a Marvel movie marathon with a small group of friends because I love action movies. I also love interesting indie movies like Waking Life, Ink, or anything by Miranda July.
I'm not the fastest reader so I have to find something that really clicks with me enough to sustain my interest. Audio books can do the trick. Some books I've absolutely loved were the Time Traveler's Wife, Born to Run, and the Perks of Being a Wallflower.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did some disaster relief volunteering in the Philippines after the big hurricane that was very eye opening and moving for me.
Also skydiving!
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach guitar, ukulele, singing, drums and songwriting. I went to school for American Sign Language and though I'm not fluent, I have taught a beginner level class. I'd like to learn more Spanish and piano, as well as other things I bet!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share beautiful acoustic music with my hosts. I'm a trained and professional singer and performer and am passionate about what I do! I would love to sing for you.
I also teach guitar, singing, and ukulele! (Plus drums if you have access to a drum kit.) I would love to give you a little one-on-one lesson or a group workshop with your friends. No musical experience needed. If you're interested in songwriting I've learned some really cool techniques from the Rocky Mountain Song School in Colorado. I you're a musician I may be able to broaden your horizons, and if you're not a musician (yet) I can get you started!
On another note, I know the beautiful visual language of American Sign Language and could teach you some!
