Hey all, I'm currently living in France where I am working as a language assistant. teaching English to students at the middle and high school levels. It became my dream to live and work in Europe after studying abroad in France in 2017, which confirmed my love for travel and the experience of discovering other cultures. I hope to travel more and meet all sorts of people with experiences unique to them in order further open my mind. During this year, I did an internship in Strasbourg working at the University of Strasbourg as well as research in Paris for my honor's thesis on French hip-hop music. My time out here taught me so much about the world and things I had no clue about. I started learning French when I was 13 and that inspired me to learn more and more about other cultures, eventually leading me to study Japanese and Spanish. Before going back to the states, I hope to do as much traveling as possible! I didn't really use couchsurfing the last time I was in Europe, but I would like to change that now!

Actuellement j’habite en France ou je travaille en tant qu’assistant de langue, apprenant l’anglais à des lycéens et des collégiens. Travailler et vivre en Europe est devenu mon reve apres mon sejour en France en 2017 quand je faisais un stage à Strasbourg dans le domaine de cinema. Cette expérience ainsi que l'été que j’ai passé à Paris menant des recherches sur le hip-hop francais pour ma thèse de licence aux Etats-Unis. En habitant en France, j’ai pu élargir mes horizons et découvrir plein de choses sur le monde dont je n'étais pas au courant avant. En gros cette année m’a donné l’envie de voyager plus et de rencontrer plus de gens venant de partout. J’ai commencé à apprendre le français a l'âge de 13 ans ce qui m’a poussé vers l’espagnol et le japonais. Avant de retourner aux Etats-Unis, j’aimerais voyager autant que possible! La dernière fois où j'étais en France, je n’utilisais pas trop couchsurfing, mais j’aimerais bien changer ça cette fois!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on the website to find ways to see the world from the perspectives of people who actually live in the places I want to see. I think a place is not only defined by its landmarks but it is also defined by its people. In fact, I would say that the inhabitants of a place give that city more of its charm and aesthetic than the landmarks do because it’s the attitude of those people that gives birth to the landmarks. I remember once traveling to Colmar with someone who actually was from there and he showed me the small streets of the town, the local restaurants and bars, the Colmar he knew. This meant so much more than what I would have seen had I only hit the major tourist attractions and left. The desire for more experiences such as this where the local perspective changes everything is what is driving me to be on couchsurfing. I'd also be happy to share Cavaillon with anyone coming through the area!

Je suis sur le site afin de trouver des moyens de voir le monde a travers les perspectives des gens qui habitants les endroits où j’aimerais visiter. Je pense qu’une ville ne se résume pas à ses monuments, ses habitants en font partie aussi. J’irais jusqu'à dire que ce sont les habitants d’une ville qui comptent le plus parce que c’est leur état d’esprit qui donne naissances aux monuments et qui donne une ville son charme. Je me rappelle quand j’ai voyagé à Colmar avec quelqu’un de la ville qui m’a montré les petites ruelles, les restaurants et les bars locaux, en gros, la Colmar qu’il connaissait, la ville où il a grandi. Cette experiences a valu beaucoup plus de ce que j’aurais vu si je n’avais fait que les sites touristiques. Le désir pour de telles expériences me pousse à me mettre sur couchsurfing. D’ailleurs, je serais ravi de montrer Cavaillon a qui le souhaite!

Jusqu'à présent, je n’ai rien fait d’extraordinaire comme grimper une montagne mais j’ai pu un peu profiter de la grandeur et de la beauté de ce monde ce qui compte beaucoup pour moi. En rencontrant plus de monde, j’espere decouvrir de plus en plus de nouvelles choses à faire et à voir.
