About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I just accomplished my long time mission of finishing grad school. Now that that's over I've decided to move south. I'm moving to Guadalajara Spring 2016 and I cannot wait. It looks like such an amazing place, every day I spend hours researching what life must be like there and I just can't wait. Aaaaah.

ABOUT ME

I recently had an experience that showed me that I need to experience more in life. I was unfair to myself and have only allowed myself to experience the "common" things in life. Now that I have some free time, I plan to go out and experience the world. I am told I am compassionate, ultra friendly, and fun to be around. I love socializing, bars, hearing peoples stories, and I am also working on writing a book. I enjoy the finer things in life. I enjoy a nightclub as well as relaxing on the beach. I am always happy, no matter the situation I always find myself being able to see the bright side.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy that I repeat to myself every day is, the only factor that determines your happiness is whether or not you can smile. As long as I have the ability to smile, I can be happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted several people as well as have been hosted. I enjoy it so much. I love hearing everyones crazy stories. It's been a while since I travelled but I've had a blast hosting some amazing people from everywhere and anywhere across the globe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ive hosted all kinds of people, from all walks of life. I have to say I enjoyed every single one. Everyone involved in this fantastic network is just so darn awesome.

Interests

I'm a man of many interests. First and foremost I'm interested in people. I love meeting people and getting to know them. It's very rare I meet someone I don't get along with. I've supported myself through college and grad school by bar tending. This offourse sparked an interest in anything alcoholic. I love beer, wine and spirits. They are truly amazing and almost magical in their abilities. I grew up in the mountains of Colorado so naturally I love hiking, camping, fishing, skiing and anything that involves nature. Bonus if it involves water in some way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't live without music. I'm absolutely not a genre snob. I love it all. My friends always shame me for my infinite love of Reba. She is / will always be my one and only BAE.

I love movies, especially if they can make me laugh or give me anxiety about the future of humanity. I love any movie having to do with WWII.

Books are awesome, as a teen I used to collect antiquarian books, it was about as cool as I have ever been. My favorite book I acquired was an American surgeons' manual from 1846.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Train hopped to Florida with my best friend. What was meant to be a quick 3 week trip turned into a life changing 3 month long adventure. Mostly train hopped the traditional "tramp" way although we did have to resort to hitchhiking a couple times. It was both the most amazing and scariest summer of my life.

We learned how to make tramp stew, read their maps and understand their symbols, we met the nicest man on earth (trucker named Pearcy), we met an Austrian trucker and his "lady" companion, one of my shoes got stolen, we pretended to be Idaho potatoes in the back of a frito lay truck. We witnessed how a community outside of the American "norm" mourned the loss of a loved one in a very normal way. Tragedy does not discrimate.

Most of all I saw first hand how generous, beautiful and kind the people of this country truly are. We saw nothing but love and compassion (with just one instance of hostility).

Teach, Learn, Share

Unfortunately, I've been in school so long that everything I can teach, no one wants to learn. If by chance you do want to learn about the democratic processes of the EU and how they affect their trade policies, please let me know.

I can actually teach you a lot about beer (I'm a cicerone), wine and cocktails.

I have a secret beer talent.
