ABOUT ME
Hello!
I am a student and traveler hoping to enjoy the life I live. I love to cook, read, play music, dance and just generally take in joy. I play the banjo, guitar, and bass and hope to learn many more instruments in the future. I love to meet people and discover the differences and similarities between our ways of thinking. I love philosophy but do not consider myself a philosopher. I love to play music but do not consider myself a musician. I don't know what I am but I think that is ok because not knowing has a joy to it as well.
PHILOSOPHY
Self-betterment is a lifelong occupation. Love and happiness must be cultivated to be found.
Generally, I love old theology (Hildegarde, Boethius, Augustine, Ibn al-Arabi) but I read it through the lens of continental philosophy (Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Foucault). I'm very much a product of my generation in this way: characterized by a search for authenticity in old traditions but an inability to shake off the conclusions of post-modernism. In a different vain, I wrote my thesis on death and immortality in Kant and Plato.
Interests
I love exploring. Of all sorts. Whether that be physical or mental exploration I find the process of discovery quite amazing. I'm very interested in different languages as well even though I am quite poor at learning new ones. Overall, I like to read, play music, listen to music, dance, sing, watch movies, meet people, and just generally try to enjoy the precious time i have in life.
