About Me

CURRENT MISSION

see anything/everything.

ABOUT ME

I live the luckiest life.

Somehow I am just always doing the things I want to.
This includes: having a transient existence, wordsmithery, baking cakes, kissing dogs, star-gazing, analogue photography, collating, collecting, budgeting, crocheting, aqua-acrobatics, reading & having holes in all my tights.

I live to be busy, but with proportionate downtime, of course. Sometimes I talk way too much. I can't be bored.

I keep my hands busy, as well as my brain.

I love to meet everyone, do everything, see everything.

I am hoping to travel everywhere, eventually, although I am but a small way into my goal. I am nomadic in my heart, but there really is no place like my home to go back to! There is nothing more important in the world to me that having a good time - however you chose to do so. I live to take photos & sparkling, twisting words are never far from my mind.

I am balanced as. Introvert trumps extrovert & I am all about spending time entertaining myself, but do welcome new people & love to get to know the peculiarities of others. Sunshine is my vice. As is bed. I love the outside & inside equally.

I tend to read the synopsis of books before I read the book. Weird, or profoundly pre-prepared? There's no need to decide.

I love to see new places and try new things! I am drawn to quirky, kitsch attractions and adore animals and kids. I am friendly, easy to get along with, and I can crochet, if you want to learn. I can't sing. I have a penchant for asking questions & sometimes I might read your mind.

I am more moon than sun & more sea than sand.

PHILOSOPHY

I live to let live. I love to learn what others are about. I can tolerate almost anything. I am very liberal and open-minded, very accepting and I love people who love to love the earth, their lives, and themselves.
Sustainability and ethical living is another big interest of mine. Grow your own, kill only to eat, don't eat chemicals you can't pronounce. Teach children that barefoot is amazing & love is alllll around. Everybody has a story & it's generally fantastic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

There is so much magic in letting strangers be your friends. I try to be open & feel there is no better way you could get to know people than by letting them into your life, barrels down. The people who do the same for me are fascinating.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some of the most beautiful people ever by couchsurfing, & forged relationships that transcend regular life.

We fed Emma fresh shark & had her pogo the night away; Chrissy bought me a phrasebook & filled my bed with snacks; in Groningen there was talk of a pre-emptive toilet-thesis party; we had our house sat by the hippest cats ever from Woester; West-End was all tea & beer & windows; in Spain my host drove us for miles & bought ice creams; I have had trouble fitting people's luggage into my tiny car but I made them love me by feeding them home-made pie; I made a couple of dudes from the states move a heap of chairs around at work for a function. I made Ash sell cakes at a festival & make her own smoothie on a pedal-powered blender.; partied to The Thong Song at a middle-school party in Echo Park, LA, before catching a bus to the ocean & eating frozen yoghurt. The list goes on.

Interests

I am a writer, a designer, an artist with a passion for all things pretty and weird.
I don't have the ability to withhold my thoughts, words are bigger than anyone.
I have a dog and she is basically my life, she is like my child & we all sleep cuddled up together. (I seriously cannot stress how much I love this dog. If you love dogs I will like you a million times more). I take photos, listen, and love to just BE places to see what they are all about. At home, I spend my time crafting and cooking and enjoying life with my friends and family. I love to explore, I love to learn, I love to create memories and eat good food and am not adverse to making a spectacle if it means I'll be enjoying myself! I am pretty involved in fighting for equal rights for all people, especially those in a same-sex relationship who currently cannot legally be married in my country.
I don't waste time on major attractions because a book tells me too. I'd rather drink all the sangria & eat all the tacos & swim all the seas & see countries this way.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's legitimately impossible for me to tell you how much I love reading. Most things I devour. I can't give you a list of authors but I can give you a list of words I like:
descriptors
sycophants
subsist
slanderous
postulating
audacious
dawdle
bamboozle
akimbo
tenacity

Oh, and here is one title:
Everything is Illuminated by Jonathon Safran-Foer.

I listen to a decidedly difficult range of music. Every festival I have ever been to I have proclaimed the best of my life.

Josh Pyke, Swamp Dogg, Etta James, Passenger, Eddie Vedder, Jack Johnson, Fleet Foxes, Courtney Barnett, Irma Thomas, Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Joanna Newsom, Laura Marling, Missy Higgins, Xavier Rudd, Michael Franti, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The XX, The National, Tom Waits, The Jezabels, Gotye, Jeff Buckley, Cloud Control, The Strokes, Cat Empire, Tuba Skinny, Angus & Julia Stone, Architecture in Helsinki, The Cure, Ash Grunwald, The Beatles, Ben Folds, Florence & the Machine, Flight of the Conchords, Dylan, Marley, White Stripes. I love to have a good boogie.

I get addicted to all TV shows, good & bad - Judd Apatow is way up there in the 'making things I enjoy' list.

The Lion King is the best movie ever made. No contest.I have seen an embarrassingly small amount of movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The sea after the mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach me anything! I adore linguistics. I'm not great at it, but I find it fascinating.

My dog knowledge is pretty obsessive. I have grown up with every kind of animal & am pretty good with all creatures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food, mostly. But I can teach you how to crochet, & I can you show you my shop & how to make zines.
