About Me

Hey there. Short script about me, I'm Californian. Means I'm used to driving alot to get to where I need to be. I have classically been interested in human behavioral psychology, art, literature with passing (mostly conversational and theoretical) interest in heady things like quantum physics and philosophy and their interaction I guess(real stony kinda shit). These subjects are the world I think in terms of, but I also love to learn what kind of lens you might see the world through, if you care to share. Also, I like to sing if you like to play music, there's a thing. Also, I know a few recipes and like to experiment in the kitchen a lot. And I have in the past been known to draw pictures, mostly cartoons, pretty well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wanna be able to see the world through the eyes of its inhabitants. That is to say, I am very big on cultural immersion. So basically, why stay in a hostel when there is a fountain of information about the REAL culture who have been part of it forever. But in honesty, having a place to crash is a big part of it haha.

Interests

I am a creative. The novelty type. I like drawing, driving, hiking, books, pretty into craft beer and wine. Uhhhh, odd rambling philosophy conversations, romantic stuff. Sensational stuff. Oh yeah, food. Food is the most important thing. Doesn't matter if its cheese and crackers or friggin' lobster. Get a me a fork and I will demolish that. Not to say that I don't care what I eat, but I really wanna try everything and definitely don't take for granted foods life sustaining properties. Like, way more important than money.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music will be diverse. I tend to steer towards more mellow kinda folksy music. Jazz etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 23, I got dumped by some girl. She really had a hold on me, and I wallowed in my broken heart for about a month before I was like "this is lame" and bought a ticket to Chengdu with no return date. Went there, got a job teaching English, visited Hong Kong, lived about China for 4 months. The amazing part I think was that I did that all about 1000 dollars and no one close to me really know where I was that whole time. I kinda realized that I could die and no one would know for weeks. Inspired me to take better care of myself. Inside 4 months I became close to conversational in Chinese, which I think is what I'm most proud of during the stay. Anyways, now I just wanna keep going, keep the ball rolling, that's pretty much what this is.

Teach, Learn, Share

This seems to be the say anything you want kind of category, so I'll talk about uhhh humanity? I guess? or like, existence? Anyways, you can take it wherever it muses you to go, but I often think about the causes of life. So, my solution was to, basically, reduce the importance of a certain "life is born" kind of event (but who knows?) Anyways, at some point, some atoms and molecules of whatever elements got together in some way and started sort of... cohesively behaving? But like they stayed together, localized somehow. And this was the first life or organism essentially. But it wasn't a conscious thing for a long time. Eventually there were rudimentary minds that could react with self preservation mechanisms and breeding mechanisms. There could recreate the thing that they are in order to continue to produce movement in the system. This continued to develop, there there were senses, then there was sentience, and there there was the contemporary human (and maybe dolphins?) mind that could solve problems and decipher language and read emotions. But it's still just a bunch of chemical systems smashing chemicals into each other in just such a way. Now we have language, which is the most interesting thing ever, because with very simple sounds, you can significantly change the chemical composition of a parallel system. (That being said, could human behavior be something solveable? Only if you take liberties with the parameters of the thought experiment.) It's sort of phenomenal. That's why I like languages and psychology and quantum physics, you can pretty much go round and round with anything that way. Makes for a pretty indecisive person though unfortunately.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have plenty of recipes. I'm an artist (and decent enough to have been payed for it and recommissioned). I can play a few songs and I sing like an angel. I'm a hell of a house keeper and a most respectable designated driver. Hard worker, can do all kinds of labor with no complaints. Let me earn it :D
