About Me

CURRENT MISSION

*CURRENTLY TRAVELING ACROSS THE U.S. UNTIL FEBRUARY 2020*

To share, give thanks, and learn from others in genuine and caring ways.

My golden trifecta: honesty, vulnerability, and transparency.

This summer, I traveled to New Zealand and the following U.S. Cities: Salt Lake City, Denver, New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, and Mexico City. I have been energized by these encounters and lived experiences and I hope to give back in meaningful ways when I return to Austin in 2020 (I will be more able to do so if I get into a great PhD program!).

ABOUT ME

Reserved, curious, against complacency, and reliable.

I first found out about CS during my first 'solo travel' across central america in 2014. A truly unforgettable experience that has stayed with me ever since. Since then I have traveled much across the US and have recently began traveling in a frequent basis (at least one city outside Texas every other week!). I have hosted people on and off since 2014 and plan on doing it more intentionally and reliably this year.

PHILOSOPHY

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks – on your body or on your heart – are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.”
— Anthony Bourdain ( RIP :_( )

After traveling, I've been fond on the idea of being comfortable with discomfort. In that regard, mi filosofia is to get out there and not be intimidated by the unknown.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can no longer say I am new to Couchsurfing. I have been lucky to have met various caring folks who also believe in reciprocity like I do. From my experience, Couchsurfing has been a great way to meet people and I hope to pay it forward through shared travel stories and acts of tenderness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had the privilege of being hosted by a few wonderful CSers in the Americas and New Zealand but looking to host and be hosted by many other folk across the world!

Interests

I like socializing in general, but being part of nature or a genuine environment is also crucial.
Other:
Hiking,
Video games,
Photography,
Reading,
Writing,
Debating,
Trekking,
Learning new languages,
Etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sci-fi is my favorite. The Foundation is among the best.
Indie music, como Flaming lips and Wild Nothing.
Cumbias too.

Sadly, as a rising academic, I mostly read non-fiction now.
But, hey, knowledge.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking Concepcion in Ometepe was by far the most challenging trek and one of the most amazing things I've done.
I almost died.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope to learn, and teach, from all whom I meet.
Everyone has a life worth sharing.
Finding the expressive outlet is the trick.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories; mutual reciprocity is great when sharing. I come from humble beginnings as the first Nahua indigenous scholar raised in the US in my family. A 300 year project in the making, I am set on creating intimate revolutions and inspiring new beginnings.

Fotos; we can go on random photo-travels when I host/am hosted.

Language; I am more than glad to practice the languages I know.

And more!

Countries I’ve Visited
