À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

That the powerful play goes on, and I may contribute a verse.

ABOUT ME

I am the best thing that will ever happen to your couch. Unless you buy a paisley slip-cover for it, because that's hard to beat.

Centres d'intérêt

I write. I play music. I read other people's writing, and I listen to other people's music. I frequently say dumb jokes and make blanket statements. I attempt to say smarter jokes and make pillow statements. I chat half-knowingly about politics, the environment and pressing social issues. I listen earnestly to people who know more than I know. I explore and I explore and I observe, attentively.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

1. I toured a five hundred year old silver mine in Potosi, Bolivia, the highest-altitude city in the world. The mine was once the most treasured possession of the Spanish empire. Eduardo Galeano's "The Open Veins of Latin America" gives a thorough and heart-wrenching history of Potosi.

Squeezing through the mine's narrow rock corridors and breathing its oxygen-thin, mineral-thick air, I was dumbstruck and humbled that miners rough it in their every day, earning barely enough to feed their families. Such a different reality than what I was born into, and a haunting reminder of what privilege means. Plus we got to blow up dynamite, which fucking rocked.

2. Not much can top the Temple of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt. I thought reading about the Egyptian pharaohs and gods was fascinating, but there's something just a tad more impressive about seeing them formed into 50-foot tall statues that have been standing for 3000+ years.

3. I slept on your couch. Oh wait, that hasn't happened yet. Did I mention I'm a clairvoyant?
