About Me

--- IN NEW ZEALAND RIGHT NOW , this is why I can not accept guests ---

I am Jessi and just turned 26. I can say that I am almost a psychologist since I just finished my master thesis at the University of Hamburg. Before I moved to Hamburg, I lived in Vienna with one of my best friends, with whom I originally shared a couch surfing profile. Since we are both living in different cities now and do not have matching schedules that enable some travelling together, we decided to close the profile. So it is just me ;) Now I live in Auckland in order to do a research project as part of my PhD-thesis. Afterwards I will move back to Germany, namely Cologne. Since I do not have a flat there, I can not reveal any pictures or descriptions yet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really love to meet people from other countries. At the moment I am living at a student apartment in New Zealand with a flatmate, who is originally from Tonga. Maybe I am just an ignorant and stupid German, but I have never heard from this south pacific island. ;) That is what I love about couchsurfing as well. I made some really nice couch surfing experiences in Stockholm, St. Petersburg and the USA. I got to know so much from the respective cultures, the people and the food.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book is "On the road" by Jack Kerouac, which ideally suits couchsurfing...what a coincidence ;) I also like "The Catcher in the Rye" by J. D. Salinger, though it probably adresses American teenagers, but I still like it. I can listen to pretty much every kind of music. I was at school, especially focusing on music and arts. This is why I also like classical music. Now I sound really nerdy, but I also like electronically or alternative music. I am pretty bad at movies, but I like to watch the series "True Detectives" or "Fargo".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Puh..that is hard to answer because somebody will expect answers, such as building a school in Africa, etc. But I think the amazingness can also be seen in really small and seemingly inconspicuous moments during the day, such as experiencing a nice sunset, having a good and serious talk with friends (and maybe drinking good wine), etc. But when I have to think of a specific moment than I would say the shark diving was pretty freaking amazing ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely proof that Germans do have humor ;) I am pretty funny if a person can say that about her/himself without sounding narcissistic. I am also half American, so I can tell you a lot about the true clichés about Americans. Since I am a psychologist I can teach you the blackest depths of the human soul and show you how to read people's mind...actually not, but people like to think that of psychologists. ;)
