About Me
CURRENT MISSION
loving Berlin, and hoping you do too!
ABOUT ME
I'm a dedicated student, lucky enough to be in Berlin on a scholarship. I'm in love with the city because of everything it has to offer. I love theater, art, literature, films, pubs and clubs, hiking and jogging, chocolate and red wine, cooking, good music and great conversation.
PHILOSOPHY
I definitely try to live my life by making decisions that will most benefit myself and other people. I'm skeptical of things like religion, but that doesn't mean I don't have religious friends. Things that allow people to not take responsibility for their own actions make me nervous. And frustrated. Mostly, I try to be nice and balance my skepticism with understanding. Or at least the attempt to understand
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've done a little backpacking and was always really grateful for the little bits of hospitality that I received along the way. Hopefully I can return the favour by offering what I can to friendly travelers. My apartment is very tiny, but I do have a pull out couch that I can selectively offer. I'm also more than willing to meet for a drink, cook a meal, or explore Berlin with down-to-earth travelers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm a couchsurfing newcomer, so I can't offer very much for this section. I can say that the people I met while I was traveling were often very kind and very generous. They made me feel at home in a foreign country and my experiences with them were often my favourites. I love getting to know a city from the perspective of someone who lives there. I've only been in Berlin for a year, but I can definitely try to offer some off-the-beaten-path experiences.
Interests
I'm interested in people. Especially people who are passionate about things. That's vague, but my interests are varied and I'm always excited to learn something new. As I mentioned in the section above, some of the things I'm interested in are theater, art, literature, films, traveling, cooking, music...really, the list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My aunt lives on Gabriola island, a teensy island off the coast of Vancouver. One summer while visiting her, I went to the beach at sunset and after the sun went down, I realized that my footsteps in the sand were glowing. It was Phosphorescence - tiny little organisms in the water that glow when they're disturbed. Everything I touched glowed. I swam in the dark water and it was like my body was glowing. It was the most unreal experience of my life. Like reality had been digitally enhanced.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can definitely teach you the german words you need to get by. And I love helping people get interested in theatre, which seems to be a struggling art form. It's too bad, really, because there's an incredible potential in live performance that other art forms don't have. Good theater realizes this potential, and there's definitely some good theater in Berlin. As for what I'd like to learn...everything. I want to learn everything.
