ABOUT ME

In a nut shell, I was born in NY and basically lived all around the state until I decided I needed a change. At the end of 2011, I packed up my apartment and headed west. The plan was to road trip with a friend from NY out to California. She had a job offer, and I had a desire to see the world! Out first stop was Asheville, NC (which I loved so much that I stop in every time I drive up to NY to visit family) and then we went down to New Orleans for New Years. After 3 days in the city, my friend had to continue on to California to make it to her job interview, so I wished her the best and stayed behind. I quickly found a home and family in New Orleans and I do not regret my decision to stay in the least.

It has been nearly 4 years, and the adventure continues. I have spent the last few year collecting people and convincing them to move down to NOLA with me.

My sideshow/burlesque/performer friend Lefty Lucy has decided to move from Brooklyn to join us in New Orleans. We are currently about to start on our uHaul road trip. It'll be her and I, as well as her 2 very well behaved cats. They have a large fabric carrier that they will share, and will most likely spend most of their time inside of.

PHILOSOPHY

"Be who you are and say what you think because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've recently transplanted from Brooklyn, NY to New Orleans, LA, with much help from couch surfing friends. Once i get my house settled, i will be offering my guest room as often as i can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience with a couch surfer was a guy from Portugal that my sister was hosting. We became fast friends, and i had a wonderful week playing NYC tourist...a game many natives don't play all that often.

Interests

I love hula hooping. I use it as a form of meditation/relaxation, not to mention amazing exercise. I love meeting new people. I love wandering off on adventures, and exploring new areas. I love camping and hiking and the smell of camp fires. I love the Grateful Dead, and the world that surrounds their music. I love festivals and concerts and laser light shows and raves. I love fire, and fire dancing, and will soon purchase my first fire hoop. I love babysitting and spending time with kids because their imaginations are vast and their minds are uncensored and they really help you learn a lot about yourself. I love climbing trees and laying in the sun and falling asleep on the grass. I am terrified of heights but i love roller coasters and carnival rides. I love scaring myself into trying new things, and have recently pledged not to turn down food because i'm scared of what it may taste like. I'm interested in learning about how people live in other parts of the United States, and how their lives compare to my own back home. And i'm really interested in where life will take me next.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. I listen to anything ranging from Classic Rock to Dub Step to Punk to Reggae and ska. I'm not a big fan of rap, especially the un-neceserally explicit stuff. Favorite bands include Beatles, Grateful Dead, Radiohead, Imogen Heap, Sublime, Little People, Regina Spektor, Bob Dylan, I Monster, and whatever happens to pop up on my Pandora and become the flavor of the week...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day, i come across something amazing in life, even if its as simple as a beautiful wild flower, or as crazy as a man dancing in fire.

Teach, Learn, Share

The only thing i love more than hula hooping is teaching others how to do it. Anyone can hoop, it just takes some practice. Like with riding a bike, it just clicks, and you will always have it. It's excellent exercise, and quite entertaining. I would love to show you some time :)
One of my goals on this journey is to meet other dancers and performers along my travels, and hopefully we can help each other learn and grow as performers and people.
