ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Jess! :) I'm in my early twenties and I grew up in Cologne.
After doing my a levels I went abroad as an au pair. I lived with a lovely family in Esher, a small city close to London. I came back to Cologne and now I study European law and linguistics.
I just recently completed my Erasmus year in Bologna which was absolutely great! I'm crazy about languages and apart from that I like playing badminton, going out with friends and working as a waitress :)
PHILOSOPHY
Explore! Dream! Discover!
I want to visit as many places as possible and meet all kind of people during my travels.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've stayed with a few Couchsurfers now and all of my experiences were absolutely positive! Unfortunately in Cologne I don't have the opportunity to host people as I still live at my parents' place but during my Erasmus year in Bologna I hosted very many people and I loved it.
I'm here because I'm interested in people. People from different places mean different stories and I can't get enough of them.
Now that I've been to Bologna, I rediscovered how helpful CS is to get to know new people. Being back to Cologne, I now try to partcipate in tandem meetings and help international students, so if you like to, I'm happy to show you around or just drink a Kölsch with you :)
Interests
I love travelling, languages, Badminton, reading and to get to know new people. I used to coach my own badminton team of kids and I still love working with kids. That's why I chose to go abroad as an Au Pair.
At my university I take part at the Erasmus-buddy programme where I try to integrate, mostly italian, Erasmus stundents into the life of Cologne :) Some beautiful friendships grew out of that programme! Having done Erasmus myself now, I know what it means being new to a place, not being able to communicate properly etc, so don't hesitate to ask if you need any help here in Cologne! :)
On top, I like going out. If I don't go out the weekends, it's because I'm working night shifts in gastronomy which are always fun too :)
Well, obviously I don't go out every weekend, sometimes I just fancy a cosy evening on the couch, eating comfy food and watching a stupid movie, reading a book or being on a phone / skype call.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I thought the most amazing I had ever done was going abroad as an au pair. Don't get me wrong, it's been really great, but then I went to see my best friend in Ecuador, which was way more adventurous. I learned quite a lot about myself on this trip.
Now, I can also add that I've been to India to meet my boyfriend's family and even participate at his sister's wedding. My India trip was just incredibly crazy, just as the country itself.
Teach, Learn, Share
Normally people write here that they can teach you cooking and stuff. I'm afraid I can't. I simlpy suck at cooking. But I know places where they serve outstanding food, especially if you're intrested in the vegetarian cuisine. I like baking though, so you might be lucky and get to taste a cake of mine :D
I've got a lot of funny stories to share and I'd love to hear yours too!
I'm really eager to learn about culture and languages and the food/drinks which your city/ country is famous for.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share with you lovely cakes freshly baked by me :D I'd love to take you out at night time and to show you the city during the day. I've got lovely friends which are also very excited to meet you :)
