About Me

am 24 years old and have worked in health care for 6 years mostly with children in a psychiatric hospital. I am travelling the US until mid September before I go back university to study my PHD in counselling psychology. I love being out doors enjoying hiking, riding horses, rock climbing and kite surfing amongst other things. I pride my self in my cooking abilities and love to do this in my spare time. I am a big foodie 🙂

I love jazz and blues music when I can listen to it live but I tend to listen to indie music on my iPod.

And I tend to read books on psychology and mental health

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've have successfully helped children with mental health issues to be discharged from hospital and go home I live their life with happiness.

Teach, Learn, Share

One thing I have recently learned from reading psychology journals is that back in WW1 & WW2 the percentage of troops with PTSD was significantly lower than in our troops today and that has a lot to do with the transition time between being in a war zone and being home in civilisation. Back in the world wars troops would be sent home on ships that would take weeks for them to return home giving them a long transition period where as troops today can be in a war zone one day and at home on that same day, this gives little transition time and making the adjustments somewhat harder
