About Me

Hello! I am a young 20 year old from California. I have come to Europe to work as an Au Pair and travel. Currently I am living in Vienna caring for three children: Julia (3), Jakob (5), and Laurenz (6). This year is a time in my life to take a break from school, explore other cultures and figure out who I am and who I want to be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I first arrived in Vienna, the idea of couch surfing had never crossed my mind. I had always been taught that it was too dangerous to travel alone as a young women in Europe. This, however, quickly changed when I met many young people, men and women alike, who were traveling through Europe couch surfing along the way. I would love to do the same and not let my own fears and insecurities stop me from exploring this vast continent I am visiting. Another reason I am choosing couch surfing is because of the wonderful people I am sure to meet, who are kind enough to open their home for me and begin an exchange of talents and cultures.

Interests

My greatest passion in life is dance. Having danced my entire life (practically), I find every opportunity to dance in new places and get to know people through social dances such as Lindy Hop, Tango, and Blues. I also enjoy outdoor excursions including, but not limited to, hiking, mountain bike riding, and camping. On my creative side I like to knit, spin, and care for sheep. Actually, I love anything to do with animals. Caring for them, training them, and riding them (horses, mules, or donkeys) :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing I never imagined doing was taking the plung and flying to Vienna, Austria to be an Au Pair for a year. Before coming, I knew not a word of German and had never lived away from home for more than a month. Now that I am here in Vienna, till July, I have travel through going to different dance festivals around Europe. If you told me I would have done those things last year, I would have probably laughed and thought it impossible. Now I know differently.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always a willing student, I would love to learn anything you have to share :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to share my passions with others. With my hosts I could share my joy for dance, both solo and partner. I have also brought with me me knitting needles, so I could teach them how to knit. My main goal would be to share my exuberance for life and all it has to offer.
