Overview
About Me
I grew up in the American south where I attend university, but am currently taking a semester abroad in Scotland. This is my first time out of the country, but I have wanted to travel the world for my entire life - I began memorizing the names of places around the world before Kindergarten and am thrilled to finally be able to see some of them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While abroad, I want to see as much as I can (as I don't know when or if I will be here again). I love the idea of meeting someone local who can probably provide me with a better understanding and appreciation of their hometown than any paid tour guide. Cultural exchange is a big part of what I study in school, and my very favorite thing to experience. I am studying abroad now in a very international city and I find it nearly impossible to dislike anyone I meet - they all have such fascinating stories to tell and I love hearing about growing up in places and ways so different to mine. To me, Couchsurfing seems to be a revival of ancient ideas about hospitality.
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
Interests
History and anthropology - my majors. Especially interested in African-American history, medical history, linguistics, and anything creepy - I love urban legends, ghost stories, and I even spent the summer inventorying Native American burials to be reinterred.

Teach, Learn, Share
When visiting a new place, I want to know the local history and culture. My historical field interest is very concentrated in local history and it very much translates to a leisure time fascination. I want to know about where you live, teach me your ways!
