Overview
About Me
About to leave on a 2 month trip to Central America via L.A after working and studying for a year. Previously studied abroad in Milan, Italy and Guadalajara, Mexico. I am very open-minded and I love meeting new people, which is why I have done two exchange semesters in North America and in Europe. I sometimes go to countries that I know NOTHING about and just learn as I get there. I love discovering things about other countries through people. I'm a bit of a sticky-beak and I love learning about other people, what their passions are, what motivates them etc.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting new people, I love knowing locals when I travel places. I discovered this after getting to know so many people during my exchange semesters from different countries and loving hearing about their homeland, what their cultures and traditions are and more. I have been fortunate enough to visit some of these friends
Quiero conocer personas que viven en los lugares que quiero viajar.
Interests
Learning Spanish, travelling. Art and (B/W film) photography, oil painting. Love getting together and having a chat with my friends over a couple drinks and snacks. I like having new experiences and taking advantage of my time in new places by experiencing them to the fullest. i.e. try every crazy dish in the area. I'm a BIG foodie.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love latin music (sube el reggaeton!) and going out dancing on latin night. In addition to reggaeton, I am not against the top 40 list (sorry I'm terribly unoriginal in this regard).
I like space movies such as Interstellar, Orphan Black, Haunting of Hill House, thought-provoking movies in general, though ever since I was little, I always say my favourite movie is Princess Diaries. It's a bit of a joke now.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done a Temazcal in Mexico, an ancient Mesoamerican rebirthing ritual while I was staying in the jungle at Palenque. It was with local people of indigenous descent (not a commercialised setting) where we endured the ritual for over 2 hours (I think? it may have been longer. Time was hazy during this time!) with smoking leaves and red hot volcanic rocks.
I've also swum with whale sharks in La Paz, Baja California Sur. One of the best experiences of my life!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to teach painting or drawing. I feel like I have a lot of random knowledge from all over that has accumulated over time and people generally think I always have a fun fact to share! Although I have been to 36 (ish?) countries, I still feel like there is SO much (large majority) of the world I am yet to learn about. I love sharing my experiences and stories from the adventures I have had, though admittedly I get much more out of learning from others' experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I suppose what I like to share would be an open mind, outgoing personality and willingness to explore.
