Overview
About Me
I love to have new experiences, which is why I travel. I will try almost anything at least once, as long as I am in good company. At any given time, you may find me reading, visiting museums, in a deep conversation, indulging my sweet tooth, at a burn, poking around in my houseplants, trying to write poetry, doing yoga, programming, going out dancing, listening to music, or reading.
I’m originally from Japan and went to school in the US, and am now finishing up my Master’s at the University of Zürich. The story of how I ended up here is a Couchsurfing one :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've met such interesting and diverse people here from all over the world. I am quite easy-going and feel that traveling is best done spontaneously and on locals' advice. For this reason nearly all of my dates are flexible. I love Couchsurfing because some of my best travel experiences and fondest memories have been made through connections here. I'm a quick learner and passionate viber, and people say they feel at ease with me soon after meeting me.
It's unfortunate that I have to write this, but do not bother me with romantic/intimate messages or expectations. You will be reported.

Music, Movies, and Books
Fiction and fantasy, musicals, anything from classical to metal. Favorite movie is probably The Princess Bride, and I can't stop listening to King Charles, Stromae, Gregory Alan Isakov, Daughter, Dead Can Dance, Hozier, Kaizers Orchestra, The Dø, Chris(tine and the Queens), and Sóley. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are my not-so-guilty pleasures.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A fellow Couchsurfer and I got terribly lost in Petra, Jordan after dark with some Bedouin men on donkeys, but saw an unforgettable full moon over the ancient rocks and cliffs. I was living in Amman at the time volunteering as an English teacher to Palestinian and Syrian refugees at a local NGO.
Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach English and Japanese, and share conversation about philosophy, international politics, literature, performing arts, music, social issues, linguistics, AI, and of course travelling. I find that the tip of any topic’s iceberg is enough to get me curious about it :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Acceptance and my curiosity. No matter how weird or insane you think you are, I can listen to your stories and thoughts and share my own. I believe anyone can be friends with anyone, you just have to find one thing in common to start.
