Hello! I’m Jess, I’m 27 years old and Canadian. I am a university student studying international development at the University of Winnipeg, but I will be coming to Prague in September to study abroad at the Metropolitan University Prague.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the past I have used Couchsurfing as a host so that I could continue to meet new and interesting people even when I am not travelling. I’ve had nothing but good experiences!

I am now on Couchsurfing as a surfer since I have a trip to Europe planned for the near future :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am most proud of having fostered more than 40 stray cats and dogs, taking them into my home and helping them to recover from injuries or illnesses until they could be adopted. I find it incredibly rewarding to help animals in need and to see them find their forever homes :’)

Teach, Learn, Share

My best artistic skill that I would be happy to teach to anyone is beadwork. For me, beadwork is part of my culture as a Métis person, which is an Indigenous group in Canada. Beadwork is our most recognizable traditional craft, and we commonly use Czech seed beads so I’m sure I would be able to find the supplies in Prague :)

I would love to hang out and exchange travel/adventure stories, share fun facts about Canadian and Métis culture if you’re interested, and learn about your culture!

I would be happy to help with practicing English (I can speak a bit of Spanish as well) and I am excited to learn phrases in other languages, especially Czech!

I would also like to plan and cook a meal for the household, or to help out with anything else around the house :)
