Overview
About Me
I'm thirty four, Yaya is about four (she's the dog). She's a good dog, not always at home but always at home where she is. I'm a good person. We have a little house in Idaho and we live there. The rest of the time we're adventuring in the world by station wagon, RV, bike, Van, steamboat, or maybe on foot. I am a sewist and a builder and farmer, and a pretty good cook and conversationalist.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've always lived in a small town, and I like the low population density, but I want to meet more people than I can with just my regular daily interactions. I also think hospitality is a virtue we've largely forgotten but are relearning and it's awesome. And important. It opens up a range of experiences to people of more modest means. It creates space for people, physically and psychologically. And it cuts out a lot of fuss, confusion and loneliness when you go to a new place to be able to interact closely with someone already there.
Interests
Biking, walking, making art or crafts, eating, drinking (beer, coffee, kombucha, tea, water, vegan milkshakes, other milkshakes.. drinking!) I'm interested in people. I try to meet a lot of them and get some perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Mountain Goats, Hello Saferide, The Handsome Family, The Avett Brothers, The Mountain Goats, The Weepies, Dan Reeder, John Prine, Tom Russell, The Mountain Goats.
Mary & Max, American Astronaut, The History of Future Folk, Children of Heaven, Castaway on the Moon, Cabin in the Woods, and all action ever, any and all superhero movies, especially Avengers, anything post-apocalyptic, and Rom Coms are totally fine too. I'll watch most anything.
I do love books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Formed lasting and meaningful relationships with a lot of people.
I'm not feeding into this idea that an amazing thing has to be something like sailing around the world or whatever. I think loving people and listening to their stories and knowing them for who they are is amazing and I want to do that all the time forever, not once.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am easy to get along with, pretty amusing and generally good company. I can also cook very well and do dishes with the kind of proficiency gained only by... doing dishes, pretty much on the regular. I could bring some beer too. Or coconut water, if that's what you're into.
