I moved to San Francisco 6 years ago from Indiana. I love traveling anywhere! I believe that people everywhere deserve more engaging learning experiences, so I have been building a nonprofit to help small education organizations adapt their education product to better serve learners and educators. I volunteer as an education community builder and host dozens of events a year to bring the education community together to solve problems and celebrate accomplishments!
I enjoy exploring the world with my favorite hobby- geocaching, it's a real world scavenger hunt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to connect with others who are interested in traveling and sharing cultural exchanges. I think it's a fun way to meet new people and share experiences.
I love giving people tours of San Francisco, especially Golden Gate Park.

Interests

Geocaching is my favorite hobby. I go geocaching every weekend and when I'm traveling I often use geocaches to guide me in finding the most interesting spots in a city. I enjoy volunteering, cooking with friends, startups, teaching, travel, road trips, hiking, walks, planning events, painting, theatre, visiting museums, chocolate, and trying new things. I've recently been focusing on lifestyle design- how to balance my professional passions with my passions outside of work to create a life I love.

Reading Interests:
I spend more time reading blogs, best practice guides than I do reading non-fiction as of late. I've been really focused on reading about life hacking recently.

Movies:
Anything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ant Man and Captain America Winter Soldier are my favorites.

TV Shows:
My current favorites are Agents of SHIELD, The Catch, Scandal, New Girl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've volunteered with 40 Startup Weekend Education events around the world. During these events, I introduce people to solving real world problems using entrepreneurship in 54 hours. People pitch ideas, form teams and build solutions in a weekend. Sometimes these teams continue after the weekend, gain customers and become sustainable businesses. There's always at least 3 people who hug me in tears at the end of the event because the event changed how they see the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

My focus for the past ten years has been using technology to improve education, so I am surrounded in San Francisco by new technologies that will facilitate learning such as Khan Academy, ClassDojo, Remind and Coursera. I'm excited to teach others about the new technologies that are emerging in Silicon Valley, but I'm also *very excited* about sharing geocaching adventures with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to chat about education and the differences between the education systems between countries. As an independent marketing consultant, I'm happy to help share marketing, design and business strategies with anyone who is starting their own business. I would also love to take you on a geocaching adventure if you're interested in that. It's a fun adventure treasure hunting game that uses GPS technology. There's 3 million hidden around the world and it's very fun to do to explore a new area! Even more bizarre once you realize how many are in your city!
