ABOUT ME

My husband Matt and I got married in 2014. Our first wedding was in a small village in Rwanda in June, followed by an American wedding in September. Our family also includes, our son who was adopted from Ethiopia when he was 5 months old, and our daughter who was adopted from foster care at age 2 . We are still a licensed foster home - so we occasionally have other kids living in our home as well.

I am a graduate of Indiana University with an Master of Public Affairs (MPA) in non-profit management and human rights advocacy/policy. I am an Assistant Director of International Programs and Student Engagement at Indiana University and get to spend my summers traveling to visit programs. Prior to graduate school, I traveled the world for a year as part of an organization called The World Race and spent a few years before that working for Young Life in San Diego, California.

Matt has been a special education teacher for almost 20 years, and grew up as the son of missionaries in the Philippines. He is also a great tennis player and is the head tennis coach for a local high school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have traveled extensively and slept on many couches and floors, several of them belonging to couchsurfers... other hosts were friends of friends!

We loving hosting folks at our property and have also hosted many short-term international students coming to study at Indiana University!

PLEASE NOTE: You must have access to a car during you stay in Bloomington as we live around 15 minutes outside of downtown Bloomington, with no access to public transportation.

Interests

I am obsessed with country music, but I tend to enjoy most music.

My husband and I both love to enjoy the local music scene as there are several great music venues in town.
