Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Become the next Barbara Kingsolver!

ABOUT ME

I just want to visit the world and write fiction! In the meantime, I'm trying to make it in the grown-up world because I need money for graduate school. I haven't applied anywhere just yet, but I'm looking around and narrowing the field.

I just received my Bachelor's degree in English. I have two emphases in Rhetoric&Composition and Creative Writing, and I received an Interdisciplinary Writing Certificate. I just became an independent freelance writer for my bank; it's not quite fiction, but it's a start in the writing world.

A couple years ago I started training seeing-eye dogs for the Guide Dog Foundation. I've trained one successful VetDog, and my second is in her final stages of training in New York. My next dog, a poodle, will be delivered to me in September. I'm super excited to have a dog with curly hair like me!

I'm really interested in supernatural stuff. I want to ghost hunt, and I love reading and writing about strange "Twilight Zone" kind of phenomena. I think cemeteries are beautiful.

IBC Cream Soda is nice.

I grew up in the mountains of North Georgia and couldn't wait to leave. Now that I live in Athens, I can't wait to get back to nature. The city is nice, and having choices is a wonderful thing, but I miss the simplicity of looking out my window at the green peaks. I want to breath in the invigorating air of a lazy, hazy morning without exhaust fumes getting trapped in my lungs. It's a different world, and I completely appreciate it now that it's gone.

I'm a bit of a nerd. I love playing video games, reading, talking about the literary values of movies, etc. I'm obsessed with sunglasses, and I love getting super dark shades so I can watch people without them knowing.

PHILOSOPHY

"For the finer the nature, the more flaws it will show through the clearness of it; and it is a law of this universe, that the best things shall be seldomest seen in their best form." --John Ruskin

Algo increíble que he hecho

I'm going to cheat and give two...

1) My friend and I finished eating at a swank restaurant on the top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps. Instead of going back to the town, we decided to hike just a bit further to see where our feet could take us. We managed to climb to the top of an even higher peak, which was absolutely breath-taking (literally...we were so high up that it was difficult to breath). Long story short, we were so inspired that we began to yodel. And it was AWESOME.

2) My mom and I were whitewater rafting down the Pacuare to our hotel village in Costa Rica. I was on the front right side of the raft. We came to these huge swells and rocks that were in the middle of two obscenely high rock-faced cliffs. Near the right cliff, I managed to bounce my way halfway off the raft. I was clinging to the ropes while my lower body hung in the water. We were rapidly approaching the cliff, and I was sure to be squashed in between the force of the raft and the solid rock wall behind me. Just in time, this little itty-bitty doctor who was sitting behind me grabbed onto my life jacket and threw his entire weight back. I managed to make it into the raft, but my knees suffered quite a bit of scraping and scarring. BUT! I have never felt quite so alive as when I faced death. Oh, and my mom didn't notice my entire near-death experience.
