About Me

ABOUT ME

A quiet adventurer with some awkward quirks and silly tendencies. Laid back and easy going, in the sense that I wear flip flops in the rain and can be easily persuaded into an adventure after a 3 minute discussion. Oregon grown, California living, but I haven't met a celebrity (yet). Appreciate the outdoors but have an irrational fear of snakes. Cool with spiders. I have an obsession with candy - in particular gummy bears.

PHILOSOPHY

Autodidactism - or at least working towards it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am still rather new to the CS thing, but so far I have been able to host and loved it.

Interests

I try to spend the majority of my time outdoors - whether it be hiking, running, paddleboarding, mountain biking, swimming, camping. You name it, I'm probably down to try it.

I studied City & Regional Planning with an emphasis in transportation planning in school. I worked for a City and quickly realized I love discussing politics more than I enjoy working with politicians. I now work in the software industry.

Disclaimer: Not an avid cook. I used to brew beer, though. That's the best kind of cooking right?

Tidbits: Enjoy philosophy, sports, technology, religion (though I am not religious), world affairs, a good whiskey, and photography. I have some off the charts listening skills and sincerely appreciate quality discussions. I will contribute if I feel it will lend itself to the conversation, otherwise I may sit back and soak everything in.

Music, Movies, and Books

As with most, I am a music fan. Both listening and playing, though the playing part has been rather absent these past few years.

My music tastes are all over the place. Some examples: Mimosa, Animal Collective, The Polish Ambassador, Kate Bush, The Mars Volta, Nas, ODESZA, Nirvana, Explosions in the Sky, Peter Frampton, Yeasayer, Aphex Twin, 65daysofstatic, System of a Down, Bonobo, Lapalux, Ghinzu, NOFX.

I am always down for any type of live music.

Books? Yes please.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I randomly decided to move to Juneau, Alaska for a summer during college. I once took my beat up car to a racetrack and did the circuit with actual race cars. That was a thrill. I convinced my mom to go on a pub crawl at 6am for my college graduation, and then we went skydiving.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could help brew beer, teach you a bit about the software industry (exciting!?), attempt to hold a philosophical discussion, make a pretty good Old Fashioned (whiskey drink), teach you the piano or how to read music, or just bring some laughs and in general a silly good time. I'll probably have some type of candy on me too.
