About Me
ABOUT ME
I live by this quote: 'Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.' ~ Mark Twain
I've got so much joie de vivre in me that sometimes, I too, wonder, what exactly it is that fuels me. I'm all over the place simply because I'd like to think I'm a globetrotter, though I'm not sure what it is I'm searching for other than the joy that comes from exploring new lands, making new friends and chancing upon little things that make me happy along the way. I love taking random pictures including detailed snaps no one would even think about! And oh, speedwalking too!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'd like to call myself a citizen of the world, and I love having friends spread out globally as it gives me a reason to visit and discover more new places, some probably I'd never thought about or heard of before. It's great to visit a new place where I know locals, and getting to stay at their place and experience the local culture is like icing on the cake!
So far...I have hosted:
(2011) Malcolm/China
(2012) Mariana & Jacira/Brazil
(2013) Sophie/England, Ka/Scotland
(2014) Athalia/Indonesia, Sam & Beth/England
(2015) Peggy/England, Dave/Australia, Tabatta/Canada, Tom/England
(2016) Mat/UK, Mike/USA, Dave/Canada, Agata/Poland, Irving/Indonesia, Ariella/USA
Interests
Travels. Nothing beats globetrotting and everything that comes with it! My favourite quote: The happiest people aren't driven by wealth, but by their love of life and thirst to learn, see, taste and experience more than what life has in store for them!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. The moment I decided to go white water rafting at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu in East Malaysia despite not knowing how to swim and the fact that I'm scared of water. It was such an amazing once-in-a-lifetime "just do it" moment, and I loved every second of it!
2. The seven times I saw whales spit out water in the middle of the ocean off Sri Lanka while whale-watching...I wanted to cry; every moment was so beautiful and made me think "wow, nature is so real and magical!".
3. When I decided to get a one-way ticket to Thailand to volunteer in educational and community projects after a over year of living in Indonesia. In the end, I stayed for half a year in the rural, Northeastern part of Thailand!
