About Me

Man oh man, where to start.

The way the world works interests me. I'm so very excited to learn about how people interact with each other and their communities. It's funny how you never notice the differences between countries until they're right in front of your face.

I want to see EVERYTHING. I've got so many years ahead of me and no where in particular to go. I'm a blue collar worker, so when I can make it out of the leather shop, I head straight out the door into nature. I prefer week-long trips to the idea of moving out of my cozy hometown.

While I'm setting up those trips, though, I have hobbies here in the states. I craft leather into wallets and bags. I also referee football (and play it occasionally but I'm pretty bad). I love to connect with people and share a good time. I bounce around other hobbies such as biking, hiking, playing with my puppies, and geocaching. Things that get me outdoors are always things I will enjoy.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life by a phrase coined by many, "Why not?"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love this community. My experiences being hosted, and finally hosting now that I have my own place, have always made the best memories on my trips. You get a real sense of home that just isn't possible when staying in hostels or hotels.

I have swam in a crack in the tectonic plates in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. I have dined in the center of a dormant volcano in El Valle, Panamá. I have swam on a black-sand beach in the middle of the night off the coast of Guatemala. I have backpacked a 180km stint of the Camino Santiago in Spain. I taught English to high schoolers in Kota Belud, Sabah, Malaysia. I have so much more to see and experience.
