My name is Jessie, I grew up in Chicago and I an currently in School in Minneapolis, I am working on a degree in history and education with a licensure in social studies to teach grades 5-12. I have a dog named Bella. I travel quite a bit from Central America to Western Europe and now I am currently in the Middle East. I run, read, paint and play guitar. I love talking with people about their travels. I am big into community service, and learning to cook.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing because I like to see the side of a place that the locals love. In Minneapolis I have weekend plans for people who come to visit that I can mix my favorite food and places into strategically geographically and thematically. So I really enjoy seeing others views of their cities the same way I can show others my cities.

Interests

I love to run, read, debate, play guitar, eat and learn. I just want to experience others cultures, I really love seeing the way other cultures deal with life and understanding how and why the function the way that they do.

Music, Americana, Folk, Southern Blues, Bluegrass, Trap Music, Country, I love a mix from James Blake to Rihanna to Kasey Musgraves Willi Nelson and the Lumineers, Bob Dylan, The Eagles .. I am into just about everything music wise.

I read academic books but I use to love romance novels. I like books about social change and social justice. I also am very into Mark Twain and Kurt V. and Voltaire..

Movies.. I just finished season 12 of greys anatomy, and watched 5 broken cameras about Palestinian resistance, also superhero movies and dramatic historical moves are my Jam.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know what to say, this week I taught a group of boys at a rehab center how to build a bench. Actually we built it together. I feel pretty good about that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have construction skills, I am trying to learn guitar, I can weave and I am pretty crafty, I can teach english with a bit of help from DR Seus. I am trying to learn to have more patience. I love learning new dances and sharing cooking lessons.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My stories, and I brought some soap with me that my mother and I make in Chicago so I would love to share some of that. Any skill I have that you would like to learn I can teach. My skills might not be expert but my ability to teach knowledge I know is a skill that I am very proud of.
