About Me
AS HOSTS
We live on a boat, which we love, and want to share with guests. We now have a permenant mooring in Thurmaston which is about 4 miles north of the centre and easy to reach by bus. But sometimes we moves around (usually within Leicestershire) - you will have to contact us to find out where we are if you want to come and stay!
We try to live a full and varied but environmentally sustainable life, so we cycle everywhere (and have various bikes and tandems to borrow) and eat (mostly) vegan food. We have a love for the outdoors and being in the wild, but also thrive on cultural city life, which is why we've opted to live on a narrowboat that is normally within a short bus or cycle ride from town.
We both love meeting new friends, and sharing our life in Leicester with visitors. We are lucky to have a lot of warm-hearted and welcoming friends in Leicester and around the Country (and world), and we are up for meeting more!
Jessie is on jessicamarycooke@yahoo.co.uk but Reevesie is slightly more reliable at responding to phone calls and emails so it's worth trying him instead! 07848007786 or reevesie@gmail.com
We have a baby since October 2020 (he's 14 months as I'm writing this), but he sleeps in with us, so it's unlikely to disturb you and there are still spare beds for guests. It does mean we are more focused around his needs, but are fairly flexible still.
AS GUESTS
We spent 6 months travelling around the Americas, over land and sea. We went to Canada by cargo ship in September 2018, then travelled down through the USA, Mexico and Central America to return from Columbia in February 2019.
Now we are home, we tend to do the odd short trip within the UK, and every couple of years to Europe. We don't fly, so we aren't likely to be able to return to the Americas or get further afield for some time!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Between us, we have done a lot of surfing as guests (mostly Reevesie) and volunteering with WWooF or HelpX, and it's been a while since we've been able to offer a space back. Now we have a place of our own (a narrowboat with a spare room and enough beds for 7 people!), we would like to accept guests and share our lovely home with others. We get a lot out of meeting other people from similar and totally different walks of life, and we love to share an evening chatting with strangers about each others' lives.
Interests
Much of our time is spent moving/fixing/enjoying our narrowboat home. Reevesie also enjoys sport,
long cycle rides in nature, strategy board games and conversations over food and drink. Jessie‘s interests include art, bike rides, gardening (we have a tiny garden on our roof with a little veg!), messing around with boats and wild swimming. We are lucky to have a good community of friends with children around us in Leicester and spend a lot of time socialising when at home.
