About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Survive being a single white woman in Cairo....its harder than you think sometimes :)

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Michigan, but moved to Cairo in August to start working on my masters in Middle East Studies at the American University in Cairo.

I live here with my two roommates, Sunyoung and Vanessa, who I didn't meet until I got here. Luckily It's turned out really well :)

I have classes Monday through Wednesday, so we can host Thursday-Sunday! Unfortunately we can only host women. Almost every apartment building here has a doorman, and this being a Muslim country, it's definitely looked down upon for us to have men staying overnight.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live :) Also, a good drink can fix quite a few things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just getting started, but the more I start to travel, I want to use this to get to know as many people from as many places as possible!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sadly, I have no CouchSurfing experiences. But I just joined CS, so hopefully that will change soon!

Interests

I spend most of my time studying, or going out in Cairo with my friends. This city actually has a pretty solid nightlife if you know where to look.

I also love playing ultimate frisbee, and couldn't be more excited about going to Italy next month for Paganello!

When I have down time, I like to sit out on the balcony of my apartment and mess around on my guitar.

Music, Movies, and Books

I know it gets said too often, but like just about any kind of music except for country. I'm sorry, I just can't do it. I'm even beginning to gain an appreciation for Arab music. My friends also make fun of me because I like to listen to opera. True story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I guess picking up and moving to Egypt at 22 is pretty amazing...but to me its just my life. But everything I've seen in this country so far is incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be more than willing to teach you some basic Arabic, as well as show you around Cairo.

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Egypt, United States
