ABOUT ME

My name is Jess and I'm a Kwaussie (Australian brought up in NZ). I'm currently back in Aus, living and studying in Mount Gambier, working towards becoming a doctor.

I've previously completed a science degree but have a lot more interests outside of study - I used to be a competitive swimmer so I'm a big water baby, as well as getting into a whole lot of other sports (squash, volleyball, netball, kayaking etc). I love music equally as much, having played the guitar and sung since I can remember.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted in NZ and Australia surfed in a number of locations overseas. Hopefully my participation will become evident in the feedback I recieve from the wonderful people I meet. I'm glad to be part of such a special project that lets different worlds come together even if its just for a day or two.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted people from France, Germany and America and I myself have been hosted in Cambridge, Oxford, Newcastle, Cornwall, Bristol, Barcelona, Brussels, Versaille, Vanuatu etc... EVERY SINGLE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN AMAZING. I have not once regretted travelling or hosting with CS and it has let me see the world from a really different view point. I can't wait to continue having awesome experiences with CS.

兴趣

I have a huge number of interests, mainly revolving around exercise, music and arts/crafts. I also have a thing for fast cars/motorbikes/aeroplanes and going on adventures. It's also not unusual for me to have 3 or so books on the go at once, I love reading but just find it hard to put aside the time for it!
I'm studying medicine at the moment so obviously that is a major interest of mine, and in particular I've become interested in the health of indigenous people, refugees and those living rurally and remotely.
Also, I love coffee. All hot beverages for that matter. And food. And cooking food. But mostly eating food...

I love books - all sorts of books, novels, encyclopedias, dictionaries, autobiographies, travel guides... i want to have the most grand and extensive book case when I grow up.

Some of my favourites are bands/artists like alt-j, aqualung, ani difranco, bloc party, boy and bear, our lady peace, coldplay, the yeah yeah yeahs, led zep, dire straits, kings of convenience, eva cassidy, andy mckee, rage against the machine, feist, tommy emmanuel, muse, the kinks, martha wainwright... this list could go for ages, but I promise to introduce you to a lovely song or two

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Wanaka (NZ) in the summer, Southbank (London) also in the summer, the cathedrals in Lyon (France), La Rambla (Barcelona), Dunedin all year round (NZ), Flying in an aeroplane (never gets boring, especially when there's turbulence!).... I'm more often impressed by the small things in life, the little anomalies and snippets of beauty that catch you by surprise from day to day.

I'll share everything i know, but i reckon i have more learning to do than teaching. My favourite things to share are laughter, pain and ideas.
