About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I believe that you are what you DO, NOT what you BUY. I am trying to DO as much as I can everyday.

ABOUT ME

I am a Canadian that moved to Japan more than 13 years ago. My Japanese wife and I owned an English school for 10 years. We have recently sold everything to live a nomadic lifestyle.

I run some websites aimed towards teaching children English.

My main blogs are JetSetCitizen.com and IdeaEconomy.net.

PHILOSOPHY

Quality of life is measured by quality of relationships. It is all about people. Our role on this planet is to create value for others. The best way to create value is to live each day fully engaged.

Anything we chose to do is great, as long as we do it to the best of our abilities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am very new to couch surfing but have been blogging about a global lifestyle for a couple of years on JetSetCitizen.com.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am still getting started with CouchSurfing but I am trying to connect with and interview fellow travellers and global citizens.

Interests

I play guitar, run, drink a lot of coffee and eat too much. I love any type of live music and believe that alcohol is a productive social lubricant.

Music, Movies, and Books

Airbourne the rock band out of Australia puts on phenomenal live performances.

Seth Godin's Linchpin was one of the better books I have read recently.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have finished Ironman Canada a couple of times. They were fantastic experiences and challenges.

Teach, Learn, Share

I once thought that more possessions would make be happier (bigger house, stereo, car, furniture, etc.). More things just led to more work and stress. Less is definitely more. The happiest times in my life were when I had the least and was working insane hours to get ahead. I want to share my belief that our actions are far more rewarding than our possessions.

I love hearing about exactly how people have got to where they are now in their lives. What were the crucial decisions you made? Why did you choose that path? What help did you have? How lucky were you? What mistakes did you make?
