ABOUT ME
Hello there.
I am a spontaneous and open-minded individual...otherwise reckless and mildly confused. I love, laugh, and cry, and while I haven't gotten the recommended proportion of time spent on each activity down pat, I am doggedly striving to do so.
I must admit, I do have trouble describing myself accurately. I wish to find myself in the midst of all these turmoil, and in doing so meet other amazing individuals.
PHILOSOPHY
"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference." - Reinhold Niebuhr.
Not a philosophy per se, but if you do not mind the slight religious innuendos there you have it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have neither hosted nor surfed, but am certainly looking forward to it! Whilst I have nothing more to offer than my fullest co-operation and gratitude for those willing to extend their hospitality, I hope there will be those willing to take the chance!
Interests
My interests lie mainly in music. However, I possess a general curiosity on things, so I am willing to try anything.
- off-roading
- music
- piano
- cycling
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - Amelie, Changeling... and in general a sucker for indie flicks and animations.
Books - I always find myself being woefully ignorant when it comes to literature...but here are a couple of books which have enthralled me: Matilda, Clockwork Orange, 1984. Right now, I am reading 'The History of Love'.
Music - My second love (my first being mathematics)! Current favourites include Beirut, Arcade Fire, Tallest Man on Earth, Ratatat, Battles...I could go on!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once went off-road biking in Bali with only a pair of slippers; they broke in no time at all and I had to complete the trail bare-footed. I've also climbed onto a restricted portion of The Peak in Hong Kong with my friends; having paid the price of being literally inches away from imminent death, we procured a breathtaking view.
Also: earnest conversations with confidants. I find those to be all kinds of amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I play the piano and the accordion, so if anyone is looking to know more about either instruments (though I am admittedly not as well-versed with the accordion...) or about music in general, I will be honoured to share what I know.
Otherwise, I have but the musings (if you could even call it that) of a 19-year-old to offer.
