About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet people from other places and encourage more people to see the world.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in California and moved to Houston in 1981, where we raised our three children. I had my first opportunity to see another part of the world during a 5 week trip to Germany as a university summer school exchange program. We visited The Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria and met some other students from those countries, as well a lot of other people along the way. I have kept friendships I made that summer and I have been interested in other cultures and people ever since. My kids and husband have all been to Europe. One son spent 1 1/2 years in Austria at school and has studied German for 8 years. We hosted a Japanese high school exchange student for a year. My husband is from a small town in Texas.
PHILOSOPHY
Love your neighbor as yourself. Do no harm. Give and it shall be given unto you. Love the earth and take care of her.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I have hosted 5 different groups or individuals and just started a few months ago.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first experience was hosting a nice youg couple froma Dallas that came down for a wedding. Then I hosted 5 Swedes and a French guy and they were so nice and considerate. Then a German lady and her Italian friend came for a few days. The last was a Canadian lady who had a year off work and is travelling all over the world, mostly the U.S., before returning to her job. All very positive experiences.
Interests
I enjoy reading all kinds of books and I'm in a book club. I especially enjoy reading books that tell about how it is growing up in other countries and times, like The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, War and Peace. I also enjoy reading books promoting health and self-help.
