Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am mostly here to make new connections, practice foreign languages and learn more about the world. I also want to help out other travelers by hosting, to pay forward the kindness I received from all the people who hosted me in my own travels.

Interests

I like learning languages. At the moment I'm focusing on Swedish since I want to find a proper job in Stockholm.

I find biology interesting too, especially botany and herpetology.

I used to love computer games, but somehow can't get into it any more, at least not very often.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to indie rock, singer-songwriter, classical, synth/electro-pop and jazz. I like Lorde, Tracy Chapman, Alt-J, Suzanne Vega, Garbage... just to name a few. I usually have phases when I listen to the same artist a lot until I get bored.

I like a lot of shows, and some films; it is too much to list really.

My favourite writers are J. M. Coetzee, Yukio Mishima and Olga Tokarczuk. All in all I like books which explore the human condition.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not one but:
Travelled around Japan by myself for 5 weeks in 2013.
Did an AIESEC internship to China for two months in 2011.
Was a part of Brave Kids project with some amazing people in 2009.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'm a language teacher by profession, so I can teach you English and my native Polish.
I can teach the basics of teaching methodology if you find that interesting.

As for what I'd like to learn, I'd gladly welcome an opportunity to practice Swedish or Japanese; for work, I also want to learn more about the culture of English-speaking countries.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my experience of moving to Sweden, and talk about what it's like to live, study and work here as a foreigner.

If I have enough time (and energy ;) ), we can walk around the city together, but I very much appreciate independent travellers.

I'm more into walking around old neighborhoods and natural areas, having lunch or coffee somewhere in the city etc. I'm not really into nightlife, nor do I often go to "gay places".
