About Me

Hello there, I'm Jez.
I like hand stands and apple in my stir fry. I love animals and sometimes host a guide dog in training so I'll have no problem with pets. I'm the middle child of three and the youngest in a few bands of varying genres (Blues/Rootsy Rock/Motown & Folk).

I meditate through the art of cooking, biking and hiking. My yoga and calisthenics practice has dwindled lately but it would be nice to meet others who may spark my interest once again. In general, I prefer playing sports to watching them. I'm qualified qi gong instructor, masseur and cuddle buddy.

Homegrown in London but I have a strong wanderlust and a wild mix of Indian, German, Czech and English in my immediate bloodline. I'm very open and will attempt to try pretty much anything at least once but then almost always want another go.

I studied Animation at the University of Hertfordshire and then Psychology/Sociology at Middlesex Uni. I then went on to study Biomedicine with the hope of following on with Nutrition still deciding which course would be best. Global nutrition masters is looking likely. Along side this I have worked as a Nanny, an officer cadet and others as random. I now teach guitar, work part time at an arts and music venue in Camden, once a week in a health shop and for a charity called body and soul who provide holistic approaches and a safe space for young people with HIV and Depression. I also work in a health shop and seem to be getting paid now for regular gigs which is super nice :)

PHILOSOPHY

A regret is just something you now know how to fix.
Life is too short for bickering so accept people for who they are and embrace the unknown!
Keep up with the dreamer in you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm traveled with my friend and band mate Lara from Vancouver, down the west coast of the US to San Diego, across to Miami and then New york, playing open mics and a few gigs. We enjoyed immersing ourselves in the culture and exchanging stories with the interesting souls we stayed with. We felt at home everywhere and are so grateful for what this community has done for us.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By Hosting lovely and interesting people or showing fellow surfers around London, suggesting places to visit and sharing my experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted the lovely Angela from San Diego who told me of her wonderful and spontaneous travels. We walked all around Central London, which got me to experience parts of London I had neglected. She came along to my gig in the Waterloo Pit Bar, sat on a pop up beach in Camden Town and made some really useful suggestions for my trip. We recently caught up in San Diego and she managed to see us at an open mic :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My all time favorites are Back to the Future the Movie, Magician the Book and The return of the little Prince, the Color Blue, California the State, the Yin and Yang Symbol, the Mentalist TV Show and mixed Motown/Blues/Classic Rock/Alt Folk music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Playing a gig to hundreds of people was probably the most amazing thing I've experienced. Although the ice caves in Chamonix were pretty awesome!
Surfing with Dolphins was beautiful.

I've accomplished a Tough Mudder with an injured Knee and then Volunteered the next day. It hurt a lot but was still pretty damn fun :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Guitar, Harmonica, Drums, English, golf, calisthenics, Qi Gong, food tips and hopefully many other things.
Learn: Saxophone, French, Singing, Yoga tips. Anything you're willing to offer to be honest; I'd probably find chopping fire wood interesting.
Share: Everything I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experience, hopefully some useful knowledge and all of the random skills I've mentioned above. I can also help with cooking or with personal projects.
