One thing I've never been very good at in life is staying in one place. I grew up going on road trips with my family across the United States exploring National Parks and the many wonders the huge country has to offer. In fact we drove so much my sister and I began to refer to it as the "dirty D word".

Misadventures are one of my favorite parts of traveling. Those moments where things don't go quite as planned always seem to be the most memorable. Among other things I love to rock climb and I love food. These might also be my two biggest vices since I can't seem to say no to a new shiny piece of climbing gear or that amazingly expensive piece of cheese that I know I can't really afford. But hey, life is here to enjoy right?!?! If you host me you are guaranteed good conversation, good beer, good cheese, and good times!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually signed up for couchsurfing going on 5 years ago but never ended up utilizing it. As I've gotten older and a little less shy about becoming best friends with total strangers (didn't my parents always say to not talk to strangers?) I've decided to hop back on the board (or couch in this case) and give it another go! I have outgrown the "hostel experience" and would much rather take the opportunity to get to know locals and really get a feel for the city I am in by having a resident show me around.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went scuba diving almost every single day for two months straight while getting my dive master certification.

Rented a motorbike in Northern Vietnam and explored "frontier territory" along the border of China while staying at homestays of the local Hmong people.

Almost died in a kayak while trying to cross the Queen Charlotte Straight off Vancouver Island, BC due to unforeseen weather conditions...

Swam under a waterfall in a crocodile breeding ground (didn't know this bit until after the swim).

Spent a winter living out of a van and rock climbing in Joshua Tree National Park (it wasn't actually that cold since it's a desert).
