About Me

CURRENT MISSION

live well, enjoy good company, and stay happy. simple as that.

ABOUT ME

I am originally for Maine, but recently moved to Clemson, South Carolina to pursue a PhD in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. There is a lot more to learn so hopefully we'll crash on one of our couches and learn a little more about each other :). Just ask if you want to know more, I'm extremely open, so ask away!

PHILOSOPHY

You create your own destiny. Stay happy and positive, and your life will take you there.
Karma's a bitch, so be nice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love hosting wandering & wondering souls who can teach me anything and everything about their travels. Unfortunatly, I am unable to host at the moment. My apartment just does not fit the bill. However, I also love to be hosted whether I am near or far from my home because its an excellent way to get oriented with an area and meet the locals. There's no better way to travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been involved with couch surfing for about 4 years now...but was introduced to it by my friend Bryan, who has been using it for years...he has been hosted in many different places, including North Africa! I have hosted on about 6 different occasions, and been hosted 2 or 3 times. It has been so fun to be able to show people around, it's extremely convenient and an excellent way to travel when I've been hosted myself! I definitely hope to stay active in the couch surfing community. I was very active from 2011-2013, then went back to the grad school and my traveling took a sad turn for the worst....time is precious and I don't get around quite as much anymore being in a PhD program.

Interests

I am definitely an outdoor enthusiast. I wouldn't call myself hardcore, because I know how to relax and enjoy myself...but my favorite things to do are to run, hike, snowboard and snowshoe. I find that I go a little crazy if I sit still for too long. But on the days where I just to want to relax, I will usually sit down with a good book. Movies are really not my strong subject. I don't watch many movies, and to be honest, I usually forget them after I watch them. I find books to be much more engaging! I'm extremely out-going and relaxed. My friends would probably describe me as: care-free, goes with the flow, makes others feel comfortable, happy, social, easy to be around, curious and open-minded. Maybe I'm just tooting my own horn, but I'm almost positive my friends would agree with these descriptors :)

I have run 3 marathons, traveled for 4 months around the world, worked at my favorite national park (Acadia National Park in Maine) for 3 years, received my Masters of Forestry from the University of Maine in 2015, and am now pursuing a PhD in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from Clemson University. I'm only in my first year, so I'm in it for the long hall!

Traveled for 4 months through Europe, India and Thailand

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm still trying to figure out how to jump up and kick my heels together, like in the wizard of oz. I can't do it, it's really hard. Wanna teach me?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of really diverse life experiences and a happy vibe
