About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Raise a family with Julie [https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/jutibo] , travel, fix what's broken, learn, teach, seek freedom. Reduce wasting.

ABOUT ME

Born in 1979, lived in Plessisvile, Riviere-Du-Loup, Levis, Monterrey Mexico, Longueuil Quebec, Granby, Cordoba Argentina and finally here : Quebec city in Canada.

I enjoy traveling, playing volleyball, meeting new people, havin' a beer and a bbq with friends, surfing the net, reading the news, spending time with family.

Studied in electrical engineering, worked as a science teacher, manufacturing engineer, salesperson and field service engineer. Then: back to school, in finance this time. With part time jobs in research and employee relocation. Since 2021: carbon market monitor.

Julie and I live together since 2005. Both of us love traveling and we hope our son, Xavier (born 2010) and daughter Raphaëlle (born 2012), will love too. So far they do!

PHILOSOPHY

Some of my philosophies:

"I walk slowly but I never walk backward." -Lincoln

"When I do good I feel good, when I do bad I feel bad, and that’s my religion.”

L'histoire c'est ce qu'on se raconte pour se souvenir du passé. Il n'y a qu'un passé. Il y a beaucoup d'histoires.

If you're never failing, then you aren't trying hard enough. Dream big, Fail big.

Buy utility, rent luxury. -Financial Samurai

Happy life is about a balance between long-term, mid-term and short-term happiness.

Doing what you love is freedom. Loving what you do is happiness.

Loving what you have is happiness. Obtaining what you want is success.

Your way of thinking leads to your emotions then to your actions then to your results. So you can change your way of thinking to get the results you want.

First we create our habits, then our habits create us.

When I haven't traveled for a while, I feel like I haven't been facing a mirror for too long. I feel the need to look at myself from the outside. It means it’s time to fly/drive/sail away for a while.

Refuse limiting choices. To the question : one or the other, always consider answering "BOTH!" or "NONE!"

A problem is an opportunity. A failure is a lesson learned.

Luck = preparation + opportunity

Life doesn't get better by chance but by change.

The trip matters more than the destination.

The new person you become on a trip matters more than the trip.

No waste no want. -Irish Saying

If it sounds too good to be true, test it!

Calculation is worth the effort.

If it ain't broken - don't fix it!

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

What separates goal from dream is deadline.

There is less competition for bigger goals.

Doing less meaningless is not laziness.

The timing is never right. Do with it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

2021?. Project is : 6 months, 4 continents, 8 countries. "World Tour 2021, to get a 20/20 vision of our world". COVID came and we never went.

2013. Leaving the best job I ever had to get more opportunities to achieve something more in my life. First step: back to school.

2012. Backpacking Turkey for three weeks with our 2-year old son.

2011. Travelling by myself with 15-months old baby Xavier, from Quebec to Switzerland, visiting and couchsurfing for one week.

2010. Backpacking in Mexico, with Julie and 10-months old baby Xavier, visiting six cities in three weeks.

2010. Ending up living one month in Kiruna, Sweden for work.

2006. Quitting a good job at IBM in Canada to follow Julie and move to Argentina for a year, jobless. One day I found myself to be standing, suit & tie, in front a major car factory group of engineers in Cordoba, presenting them a canadian product in a language that is nor my first or second language. Could not believe I was doing that so early in my life.

2002. Fresh out of school, moved to Monterrey, Mexico for a job as a science teacher in a boy-only catholic private school.
