Resumen
Sobre mí
CURRENT MISSION
I am finding a new life in San Francisco and exploring the West Coast
ABOUT ME
I'm challenged by the idea of taking my skills on the road, working freelance multimedia gigs in web, video, print, photography and writing. I've thrown myself into a sort of "Individualized Internship Program" that began with my travels in June 2008. While I have had an amazing adventure so far, I am realizing the need to make my travels more sustainable and productive. I am discovering how to do this in real time, on the fly through what might be called "experiential research."
I've had a great freaking time with international travelers visiting the US: Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco. I've learned a lot about travel and made some new friends, so I want to use these experiences to tell the story of travel itself- not about being a tourist, but about being an explorer- learning something about the human condition and how to make the world a better place. There is a common thread that runs through my experiences, and that is the hunger for meaning and desire for collaboration among those achieving personal growth through service to others. This is ultimately where I am going with things, but the more practical tasks at the moment are developing narrative examples about making connections and traveling well in the first place.
PHILOSOPHY
I feel my calling to help transform mass media. I want to make and support media that values community and interconnectedness- that serves our collective psychological and spiritual health. I'm interested in the ways in which we can be more than passive consumers and how we might participate more actively and creatively to demand that media serve the betterment of humankind. My philosophy is dynamic and ever-changing, but at the moment I believe that communications technology is an extension of our natural evolution that can facilitate coexistence and constructive interaction between different cultures.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have arrived in the Bay Area and I am volunteering to work at CS headquarters in Berkeley, once I figure out how things work and where my skills can be best utilized.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm new to Couchsurfing, but I feel the magic happening with each couchsurfer I have met on the path. I am excited and fascinated, ready to dig in and get involved.
Intereses
I'm interested in the power of language, music, movement, and the arts in general in transforming people's lives. When I'm not traveling, I'm involved in a community media/web development academic program at Indiana University. I keep myself busy in a myriad of ways: music, reading, outdoor activities, engaging conversations, etc.
I spend my free time listening to intricate music, seeking deep conversations, reading, biking, anything artistic (film, art, music, etc.) as well admiring and discovering new things about life. Time spent outdoors is always a plus.

Algo increíble que he hecho
I finally made it out West to the California coast and have been pleasantly overwhelmed by the radical beauty there.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I am developing a daily production that documents my travels- a show or podcast that offers tips about saving money, finding work, and using the Web and other technologies to connect with real world opportunities and meaningful encounters with real people. So it's a hybrid show about being a traveling freelancer, social networker, and progressive activist. If anyone has any ideas that could go into a production like this, or if you can help in anyway, let me know.
