About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live in the present and enjoy and appreciate every day

ABOUT ME

I have too many interests--which means I love experiencing new things and am easy to please, but I can't say that I'm an expert in any one. I also love meeting new people and really trying to understand who they are and what has influenced them. I think one of the best ways to combine my innumerable interests and desire to meet new people is to travel :)

PHILOSOPHY

Kind of like my current mission: I think living in the present and enjoying and appreciating every day is so important. Unexpected things happen all the time, and you should always feel like you've lived your life to its fullest. Don't make decisions for other people--make them for yourself. Don't put off expressing your feelings to those who matter the most. And try to find joy in the small, everyday experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would really like to stay on some couches on my (rare) travels, because I feel like it's one of the best ways to get a true understanding of a place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first became familiar with Couchsurfing when I lived in Beijing in 2010 (my Chinese roommate was a member and hosted someone while I lived there). However, the longer I lived in Beijing, the more I realized how great Couchsurfing was. It allowed me to make a variety of new friends from all over the world that I never would have met otherwise. My good friend from college (Rochelle) also lived there, and I made great friends through her connections with Couchsurfing (like Nihir). They only had positive things to say about the organization, and they convinced me to try it myself. I am planning a 2 week trip to Europe, and I thought it would be the perfect time to start my surfing adventures!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked to an untouched tower of the Great Wall with some friends, and we slept there on the stones. Although it was extremely uncomfortable, watching the sun set and rise on the Great Wall was absolutely incredible.
