I'm a Cellular and Molecular Biology Ph.D student at UW-Madison. I grow up in a very rural and poor mountain village back in Sichuan Province, China. I'm extremely in love with nature and wildlife because I grow up in the mountains and always running around in the woods when I was a kid and thus fell in love with nature and wild animals.
In 2008, there was a huge earthquake happened in my hometown. I was lucky enough to not only escaped the disaster but also managed to save one of my classmates by digging a tunnel during the night. So later I was awarded the earthquake hero by the Chinese Government. Following that, I was awarded Presidential Scholarship by the president of Florida Institute of Technology. After graduated with a bachelor degree in Biochemistry, I want to continue study by joining a PhD program.
I love traveling, camping, hiking, climbing and photography, etc. Almost everything related to outdoor activities. I also love growing plants, playing badminton and table tennis, watching movies in my spare time. But my main focus is the outdoors. Nothing could prevent me from going outdoors. I'm currently live in Madison, Wisconsin and looking for friends with the same interests so that we can visiting natural places together, discussing photography techniques and skills, exchanging culture experiences, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

1. Recently I moved from Florida to Wisconsin to start my Ph.D here at Madison. It is a huge change in terms of weather and climate. And I also broke up with my girl friend. So I'm a little depressed and lost interest in many of the things I enjoyed so much in the past. I want to change that state and want to pick up the hobbies I used to love, and meet people, make new friends. So I think couch-surfing will probably help me to realize my goal.
I'm planning to visit some national parks and trying to find place to stay during my visit.
2. Would love to meet new faces and new perspectives and exchange stories.
