About Me

Hi!

My name is Jiayi and I am from Kentucky, USA. I have a passion for learning about life from another's perspective, and am always open to new adventures (or guiding an adventure that is new to you!). I personally feel that the path to living a fuller life lies in our ability to connect with others. Let's meet up and both share a new experience together :)

I have traveled all over the United States, and have recently started to expand my travels abroad. My favorite hobbies are rock climbing, snowboarding, and playing the ukulele. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will do the same to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I recently discovered Couchsurfing as a means of finding places to stay while traveling abroad, but upon doing more research, I've found that it is better described as a wonderful way to meet and connect with new cultures and people.

As a newcomer, I am looking to experience Couchsurfing as a guest before opening up my home to host.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just this past year, I climbed my very first 5.12a(7a+)-rated outdoor climbing route, called "Enjoy the Process", in the Red River Gorge.

Teach, Learn, Share

Rock climbing is my favorite hobby. I enjoy it as a means to exercise, push myself, explore new places, or even just to pass the time. If we get on the topic of it while having a conversation, I could talk for hours. If there is rock-climbing or a rock-climbing gym near you, I would love to take you there and introduce you to the sport.

I am trying to become a better cook. If you have some beginner recipes from your culture that you are willing to share, please teach me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a child, I was raised on the practice of "leaving things better than when you found them". I had thought that this just meant being respectful of other people's property, not littering in nature, and cleaning up after myself where applicable; but as an adult, I've come to learn that this practice extends to people, too. I hope that when we say goodbye, we are both better off than when we met. Thank you for considering me as your guest.

PS: I can be pretty handy and am always open to building my expertise. Happy to help with any house projects or if you need an extra set of hands.
