About Me

As you can see I joined Couch Surfing in 2013 but never used it. Because I haven't traveled abroad and I didn’t really know how to use it. When I met a German girl in HongKong in October 2017, she strongly recommended me to use CS and gave me some tips to use it. This is my very first time to write down my profile, 30 October 2017.

Thanks for being interested in my profile and reading it :D
It’s hard for me to define or describe myself but I give it a try.
I will carefully write down as much as I can , because I want to give as much information as possible for my future hosts who have never met me before but willing to offer their places and also for my future friends as well. :)

I am a sociable person but also enjoy being alone. I do love traveling, but I haven’t had much chance before, now I am traveling as much as I can. I only lived in Korea until 29, but I always dreamed about traveling all around the world.

2017, I became 30, I wanted to start my travel from pilgrimage, ‘Camino de Santiago’ From 27th April to 31st May 2017. I walked almost of the whole way, 800km. During the way of third day, I could make a group. We spent so much time, walked together, stayed in the same dormitories, cooked and eat together. We became more than friends like a family. There were Danish,German, Slovenian, Finnish,English,Irish,Italian and me Korean. We made a lot of beautiful memories. We had deep conversations, laugh, cry and good time together. I love the differences of people and cultures, also love to listen to their lives, wanted to experience all. I made friends as many as possible, and afterwards I visited my Camino family and friend’s houses in Denmark, Germany, Slovenia and Finland.

When I was a kid, I didn’t even know how to speak foreign languages, but used to help foreigners. I always thought 'I can be the embassador of Korea for one foreigner' so I tried to help foreigners as much as I can. In 2011, I met a Danish girl who was an exchange student in Korea. She is my very first European friend. I helped her and she invited me foreign student’s dormitory, I could make a lot of friends. Especially 2 Danish,2 German and 4 Dutch girls lived in 7th floor, They called themselves 7th heaven girls, I used to spend most of time with them for 3 months of their semester. I wanted to introduce Korean culture, travel together. I also invited them to my house , my mom made traditional Korean dishes for them. After the semester, one of my German friend’s parents came to Korea, so I wanted to be a tour guide for them. It was so much fun. So when I traveled Denmark and Germany summer 2017,after Camino de Santiago, I visited them and could meet in 6 years. I was really happy to see them again. I also joined one of my Danish friend’s wedding as well. It was so honored to join her wedding.

I love to help people so I volunteered in Cambodia for 5-6 months October 2015 to March 2016 in Takeo Province, Phonm Penn. I helped orphans , very poor kids. The school run by Adventist missionaries, has dormitory, student restaurant, orphanage, kindergarten, elementary school to high school. All Free for students. I worked as a teacher, but sometimes I was like a sister, nanny or mom. I taught them Art, English pronunciation, Singing and everything I know..
Also I helped homeless people, poor people in Korea to share warm foods and donated briquettes during the freezing winter time.

I volunteered for Cancer patients for 2 months in Dr.Leesangku’s center as well.

I love to be in the nature so when I walked the Camino de Santiago, I got amazed by beautiful nature what God created. Almost of all European countries where I’ve been were so beautiful, has their own beauty. I couldn’t stop loving it. I also hike the mountains in Korea, we have magnificently beautiful 8000 mountains all over the country.

I believe in Jesus which is very important for me. But I am not a typical or stereotype church goer. I respect all different types of religions and people’s opinion. That’s why I have a lot of friends who are Muslim, Hindu, Buddist,Atheist from all different nations and cultures LGBTQ as well. Whatever they are, they are human-being, who created and beloved by God. I don’t judge by thier faith or religion. I just love people, want to be a good friend of them. I’ve read science magazine since I was a kid. I am interested in science as well. I love God gave us freedom to choose, their own lives without social judgement or church laws which made by human-not in the bible nor Jesus’s love-imposed on everyone of us. I want to follow Jesus not just pretend to live as a Christian, want to be ‘Christ like Christian ‘ the real meaning of Christian. So I respect all people usually like Jesus treat people, not to judge anyone easily. Jesus is love itself, his love is unconditional, I want to spread love whoever next to me. I want to treat nice and kind to people. I don’t want to be called as an Adventist, Protestant, Catholic nor whatever. I would be like Jesus. I am his follower not a fan. I just want to good influence to people.

I can be very spiritual and philosophical person if you are interested to have conversation about serious things. I tryied to read some books of Eastern and Western philosophy and religion and physiological and all kinds of medical books. I want to know and see what people think and want to be more opened and wise person. I always have enthusiasm about being wise and expanding my boundary but have strong foundation inside.

I am very open minded , bright, highly sensitive but easy going person, for myself, quite strict and try to keep temperance.

I am very positive, even though I bumped into a bad situation. I had really many ups and downs in my lifetime. I always think about what I can thank for. That’s my strong point. I can say I am not that physically stong but mentally strong girl.

I want to stand for the right things.

Last November 2016 to March 2017 , Korean impeached the past president Ms. Park, she made dirty political crimes. I also joined the candlelight rally as democratic peaceful movement even though it was so cold winter time. I am so proud of the citizens of Korea.

I support ‘Comfort Women’ please google it.
They got tortured from Japan. They got captured from Japan and treated as sex slaves when they were very young. Some of them were 12 years old. Mostly Korean young girls. When Korea got invaded from Japan they treated Korean people like Nazis treated Jewish. It was cruel and horrible. You have to know this because it is not that long time ago and they want to hide the truth. Most of Korean want to get apologize from Japanese government. Especially who used to be sex slaves, work slaves, they become late 80s and early 90 year old people. They really want to get apologies from Japan before they passed away. But Japan just ignores about all. Just wait for the time when everyone will passed away. Japanese politicians and prime minister said that Korean young girls volunteered for militaries. But it is not true. Normally one girl got raped 60 times per every single day. Can you imagine how their body got ruined and tortured from Japan? I don’t know if you know about Japanese rising sun flag, it is exactly same meaning of Nazis flag. They are not ashamed of their dirty history. So they use it for Japanese Navy flag still. They had a culture called ‘Yobai’ (google it) for hundreds of years until early 1960s. They never feel guilty or shamed of raping girls because of that. Long story short, I support that kind of people who experienced sad or bad things without their fault or nothing. They’ve become victims, got hurt from bad ones. I want to help people even though I am only one person but through this, someone might read and think of it, somebody really find and searching for it and might share those sad stories to others. I believe that one person can change the world in some ways.

I love to taste all different food but vegetarian. (Close to vegan: My mom passed away with cancer so I do care nutrition based diet) , Don’t drink alchol nor caffeine. I don’t have junkfood, soda drinks nor instant foods which is unhealthy for me. It seemed boring but I am not a boring person ;-)

I love all kinds of healthy food so much. I have sensitive tongue, I can cook quite well. I love cold pressed juice which makes me refreshing and keep healthy.
I am so proud of Korean food culture which has thousands of foods (but needs so much efforts) I love Korean food so much.

I am a fan of Thai and Vietnamese food as well.
I love italian food of course , i love Sicilian Lasagna made with Aubergine the most. I love to feel the difference of cultures with food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to live like a local, want to experience all different kinds of culture.
