ABOUT ME
About us: We met while studying abroad in Italy, and we became friends while eating gelato and listening to great European music.
We like music, traveling, and laughing--all in large quantities!
Nowadays, we live on different continents, but when reunited, we usually have sweets in large quantities.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short, eat dessert first!!
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We want to meet lots of people from foreign countries so we can understand new cultures from an inside perspective! If you are in Orange County or Bristol, say hello!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've met a lot of cool people couchsurfing. I (Jillian) have mostly commandeered this profile.
Interessi
We are interested in a wide variety of things--movies, music, ice cream...
I love movies! I'm a big fan of foreign stuff (so cliche, I know)--specifically Scandinavian stuff. I also love alternative/rock/indie music, so if anyone wants any recommendations, or has any in turn to recommend, I'm all ears! If you come meet with me, I'll make you a fancy mix in your honor! I also love desserts. Show me some awesome desserts and I will love you forever.

Musica, film e libri
Jillian: I like Mew! They are my favorite band, so if you like them, we can probably be best friends. I am very fond of music in general, with a few more of my favorites being Belle & Sebastian, Tegan and Sara, Vampire Weekend, The Shins, Broken Social Scene, the Decemberists, plus many more. I also like movies from all over; subtitled movies tend to make me cry more than normal because everything seems more emotional in a foreign language.
I study English Literature currently, so I am always willing to chat about books!
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
There's so many cool things I've done, though they might not seem very cool to others. One of my favorite memories was spring break while working in Japan--my American friend had a student turned friend who invited us to her hometown, a small city near Hiroshima. We arrived in the evening, and were invited by her parents to the restaurant of a family friend. While our friend was quite good at English, none of the other Japanese were, but it was fine, because as the sake started pouring, my Japanese kept improving! We were the only people in the traditional style place, and the owner offered my a chance to drink snake sake. He was so pleased by my effort that he rewarded me with two turtle shells (why? Who knows...probably because he had them lying around). It was such a fun and comfortable time, and it was the beginning of an amazing trip.
Insegna, impara, condividi
The best thing I've learned from traveling is to be flexible. Something usually goes wrong, and it's best to just go with it and not worry. Stressing is not a fun activity, so enjoy your time, even if it's not what you've expected!
