Über mich
I work as a Speech-Language Pathologist at a high school here in Sacramento. I have studied abroad in France, Guatemala, and most recently Ecuador - I believe there is no better way to appreciate the world than to meet new people and see their world through their eyes. Part of the reason I work in a school is so I have my summers free for traveling!
I enjoy playing board games, video games (PS4 and PC), reading, going out to bars, hiking, and a wide variety of activities. My favorite pastime, however, is good conversation about interesting topics!
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
So far, all my hostees have been amazing. I've thoroughly enjoyed participating in a reciprocal exchange of world views, culture, and excitement for life! I once stayed in New York with someone I hosted in San Diego - couchsurfing has resulted in lifelong friendships in my case.
Et aussi, je peux pas mentir - j'ai une préférence pour les francophones parce que j'adore pratiquer ma langue seconde! ;)
Y tambien prefiero los hispanophones!
Interessen
Video games (PS4, PC), board games, binge watching good TV shows, anime/Japanese culture, French pop culture, social dance (i.e. blues dancing), hiking, food, alcohol of all varieties in all contexts, beer tasting, wine tasting, tequila tasting, going to concerts, social justice issues (highlights: equality in education for students of all backgrounds, increasing positive/realistic female representation in the media, & supporting living wages for all)
And on a serious note, "best practices for serving bilingual/bicultural adolescents with language disorders" is my career passion and hopefully the subject of a future thesis for a doctorate in educational leadership.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I had dinner with Brandon Stanton, the Humans of New York photographer in April 2014. I got to hang out with him for a good two hours with just a handful of other people and it was an amazing experience. He is an incredible human being and I have really enjoyed following the growth of HONY!
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I can teach you all about the world of communication disorders, special education and the American public school system.
I make a mean pasta dish.
I've learned all the coolest, best bars to go to in Sacramento.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I like to think of myself as a pretty good conversationalist, so if you like to chat I've got you covered. I also consider myself pretty knowledgeable about speech, language, and bilingualism matters, so if you've got a burning question in that realm I can certainly help you out. I'm more than happy to help cook, too!
