My name is Jillian Nguyen. My Vietnamese name is Huyen Dieu. I am 26, a graduate of the University of Melbourne and I am also an actor. I recently worked on a movie with director Justin Kurzel, who made Snowtown.

Though acting is my true love, I find immense joy, being in an environment where I can develop meaningful relationships with people. I like to inspire and empower those around me. In the past year I attended drama school 3 days a week, whilst working at Scanlan Theodore 4 days a week.

I have more than 7 years in retail experience. I am an incredibly hardworking individual and have been working since I was 15. I have a big sense of empathy and a warm personality which effortlessly connects me to most people. From the ages of 18-22, I was a volunteer at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Melbourne City Mission.

The things in life that make me the happiest are good books, good food and good people. I have travelled a lot across Europe, Asia and America. I didn't use couch surfing when I was overseas, but I always used airbnb (private room and room share) I absolutely adore meeting new people and feel incredibly open to learning about people's stories and culture.

A mantra that I live by is, ‘be brave and be kind’.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A dear teacher of mine who is already a theatre director, called Kristine Landon Smith is doing a play at Kings Cross Theatre in Potts Point. The play is called "The Serpents Teeth" by an Australian Playwright, Danielle Keen.

She's offered me a role in this play so I decided, why not, go up and experience this city for myself.

I have travelled up to Sydney many times with my family when I was little, and recently with friends.
I would love to stay with a local and get to know Sydney even better!
