Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Jillian!
I'm a sociable introvert with too many hobbies than I have time for.
I'm the oldest of 10 kids and was born and raised in Calgary, Canada.
I lived in Guatemala for a while and have traveled a lot in Mexico.
I'm currently doing an Internship in Cusco with a Canadian NGO.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think it's really cool that you have literally stay at a strangers house and end up feeling like you are close friends or family by the end of it all. The generosity I have encountered from couchsurfers is incredible. It gives me a breath of fresh air and gives me new hope in humanity. I also love hosting people and showing off my city. Couchsurfing gave me a new found enthusiasm for the place where I'm from because it forced me to look at it like a tourist for the first time. Pretty nifty :)
Interests
I enjoy hiking and camping when I'm physically able (I have had long term issues with my knees!)
I love cooking and baking, especially for people.
Crafting is super sweet.
I love gardening even though I don't have one here in Cusco.

Music, Movies, and Books
Isabel Allende is a favourite author of mine.
I like a lot of different music - anything upbeat!
I am SUPER into Star Trek.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in Guatemala was definitely an eye-opener. I was amazed at how generous and welcoming people are even when they don't have a lot to give.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a pretty good cook and food geek and am happy to share knowledge or just share my results!
I can also share a little bit about my volunteering experience and travel experience in Latin America.
I can share what I know about gardening, but I'm still learning myself. Would love to swap ideas, knowledge, or even seeds!
I love projects - if you're into any kind of DIY projects and want help, I'm your gal!
I could talk about intersectional feminist theory all day long.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a great cook, and I'm happy to buy food, beers, whatever!
I'm fine with being independent or with hanging out if you prefer.
Help with projects and whatnot is on offer as well!
