Overview
About Me
I live in New Orleans (it's home) and recently quit my job to do freelance which affords me a lot of opportunity to do whatever I want. I'm not really a travel bug, but since I have the option to just pick up and bolt, I often take advantage of that now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I recently did 45 days on Amtrak visiting 20+ different cities. I usually go places where I have friends/family, hence why I don't have any couch surfing history yet, but I'm looking to expand my possible destinations but really don't like the whole "hotel scene" (not just a cost thing, I just think the pure tourist form of travel where you don't know anyone, have no context for what makes the place you're visiting actually cool, and you stay in an institutionalized cookie cutter space. Not my jam!
I'm about to do a few bursts of air travel (I figured out that instead of paying like $300 RT to go to one place, there's tons of places you can daisy chain together that cost like $50 each one way that will not only accomplish you going the place you originally intended, but a few other places along the way and on the way back home. I'll probably do something like that everywhere I go from now on and while I know people in a lot of cities, I don't want to be too boxed in.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The 45 day Amtrak trip is unique, I guess. Ask me about it!
